Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Beauchamp.
Gregory, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I handmake original art prints from a tiny studio in Venice. It took a while to start, and it’s been a while to get here.
After years of being a creative person in advertising, I slowly began spending more and more of my time building an art practice, a studio whose sole output is the conveyance of love… it’s been a transition of working for clients to working on kindness.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My deepest obstacle has been finding comfort with self-promotion. Switching hats from making art in the studio to being responsible for promoting finished pieces has been a challenge to my introverted tendencies. Having to take it on, I find myself outside my comfort zones, being more open and seeing more rewards.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Beauchamping – what should we know?
The Art I Make is called a citrus-transfer print. With a hand tool and a citrus-based solvent, I transfer pigment from a master template onto a piece of printmaking paper.
After the template dries, it leaves an imprint that looks similar to a woodblock print. I make and sell these in limited and open editions.
The Ideas I Make are based on three beliefs – (1) the simpler you can make something the more universal it becomes, (2) creativity can solve anything, and (3) together we can make tomorrow better than today, for everyone.
I often say the world is full of happy little moments, the chance you’re surrounded by them is enormous. That’s what I want from my work, to be one of those happy little moments.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My greatest appreciation goes to the two things I love the most… a girl named Jenny and a cat called Motley. They get to see the daily of what the transition from career life to an artistic life looks like and have been supporters, cheerers, believers, listeners, and accomplices the whole way.
I’m also extremely grateful to three local businesses that have supported my work from the start: Billie and Tootie (Sonomama), Erinn (Burro), and Lauren (Dacha). Through their kindness, I have grown in both confidence and audience.

How did I miss this?! You’re extraordinary, Gregory. I hope I’ll be able to get to SoCal in the next few years or you and J will make it all the way to Boston on one of your upcoming trips to the northeast.
