Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Zarrabi, M.D.
Michael, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began college at the age of sixteen and graduated from U.C.L.A where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I became the youngest student to obtain a Medical Degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and graduated with multiple honors. I then completed my five-year postgraduate residency training in General Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Following that, I served as a Fellow in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Hand Surgery at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon.
I am currently a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, dedicating my career and practice for over 10 years, to the field of Cosmetic Surgery. My practice is currently located in Santa Monica, where I specialize in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including face and neck lifts, eyelid and eyebrow rejuvenation, body contouring, breast augmentation and reduction, tummy tucks, liposuction, mommy makeovers, skin reduction surgery, and non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
I have since been invited to lecture and present research at local and national meetings in Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C. and Portland and have spoken as an expert on topics such as Liposuction, Tummy Tucks, Breast Lifts, and Craniofacial Surgery. I am also a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and a Fellowship trained Hand and Microsurgeon.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have been incredibly fortunate to have such a positive experience building my practice and establishing myself and my reputation as a surgeon. It has and continues to be an exciting journey making my practice a success and creating a level of excellence in my work and across my practice over the last 10 years. I attribute much of my success to having such wonderful, supportive patients, who have all been extremely pleased with their results, making my job seem rather effortless. I take a lot of pride in my work and how I make my patients feel from the moment they first step into my practice, to the moment they enter my Operating Room, and even months after their surgical procedures are complete. I find the challenges that can come day to day as a surgeon to be motivation to become an even better surgeon than I was the day before. Using a personalized approach to plastic surgery, where each patient is treated with an individualized operative plan that fulfills their needs and desires, allows me to feel like my job is more exciting than it is challenging.

We fully acknowledge that how you feel about your body affects every aspect of your life. Choosing to change the way you look requires trust in a doctor who has the right combination of skill and understanding of your unique needs. Being Board Certified and seeing patients from all over Los Angeles and throughout Southern California, I have been recognized for my clinical expertise and artistic abilities. Realizing no two bodies or faces are alike, I tailor surgeries specifically to meet the needs of each patient.
My staff and I pride ourselves in our approach to customer service, making each of our patients feel as though they are guests in our home. Plastic surgery is not always the most comfortable topic to discuss and can be a very sensitive conversation, so we want our patients to feel like they have a safe place to talk about all of their needs and concerns. From the moment they step into the office they are greeted with a warm welcome and immediately feel at ease. We consider each other family in this office and strive to make each of our patients feel like a part of that as well.
We offer complimentary consultations as the first step to making our patients feel relaxed and confident about what we do at our practice. Offering this service as complimentary takes some of the pressure away and allows their first appointment to be more of an introduction, where they can ask all the questions they have and for us and to address all of their concerns.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity found here in L.A. Every day I meet the most interesting people in my practice and value the opportunity to get to know them all on such a personal level. My patients come from all walks of life, which makes every day an interesting one. I am constantly learning something new from my patients, even those I’ve been seeing for years, and that keeps things very exciting in this practice.
I could, of course, do without the excessive traffic, and I am sure my patients can attest to that too. Some of them come from all over Los Angeles and Southern California to see me, and it can be quite the trek to do so. I applaud them for their perseverance and dedication.
