Check out Christopher Finley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Finley.

Christopher, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I remember watching the show “Face Off” when I was younger. The special effects makeup competition that was on SyFy. After watching that, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I never really put that plan into action until I was 21 and my best friend unexpectedly passed away. I took that and used those feelings to enroll in makeup school and follow my dreams. She’s the reason I’m doing this today.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Well, I wanted to JUST be a special effects makeup artist and create the timeless monsters and creatures you see in movies or on TV, but I ended up falling in love with beauty makeup while learning to do special effects. So now I can do both, and my creative visions aren’t just stuck to one type of makeup. I can make a model up extra pretty, and then turn around and make her a vampire if I wanted to.

How can artists connect with other artists?
In the makeup community, the best thing you can do is make connections and build lasting friendships. Go to events and meetups, talk to other people you’re working with. Hell, even message someone online and see what happens. You’re only lonely if you let yourself be.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can mostly follow my work and journey on my Instagram account.
