Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Lavish Tan is a boutique salon located in the heart of Abbott Kinney Blvd in Venice Beach, California. We have been featured in top magazine publications and on a countless number of TV Shows, as well as the to go to place for celebrities in Los Angeles. We also wholesale and distribute our retail products to over 1500 salons and spas across the U.S. and Canada. Our retail products are available on our website for purchase as well as on Amazon.com.

We have patented our own organic spray tan formula which contains no beta-carotene or beat extract. Lavish Tan’s signature solution is based of brown sugar derived from apples ensuring a golden brown, sun-kissed result every time. Our solution is also free of preservatives and chemicals.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a very steady growth for Lavish Tan. We started 8 years ago as a boutique salon only. Then, several years later we decided to create an organic, natural solution that was free of any orange or pink undertones. After working with a cosmetic chemist for over a year, we finally patented Lavish Tan’s organic signature formula.

Lavish Tan – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our solution contains no beta-carotene or beats extract. All other solution brands on the market contain one or both of these ingredients, usually giving an organism or pink, unnatural color result. Lavish Tan solution contains neither of these ingredients and is based of a brown sugar derived from apples. It not only gives a much more natural color result but also is has a slightly sweet, pleasant fragrance, unlike other spray tan solutions. It also will last about 7-10 days on average, 4-5 days longer than other spray tan business.

All of our spray tan technicians are certified with years of experience.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as being able to do what you love every day and finding a career that’s fulfilling and rewarding. If you create a good product that stands out from the competition, people will fall in love with it. I believe in being patient in order to achieve that success. A slow and steady growth is the key to Lavish Tan’s success.
