Meet Suna Myles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suna Myles.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Since I was a child, I have been good at everything about art and self-expression. Despite everything, I’m mocked by my friends because I was a tomboy and start losing my confidence, until the day, a young man and  defended me and told me: “If you want, you can be the prettiest, it’s up to you.” These words are a revelation, it’s true, you will become who you decide to be. After that decided to help other girls by comforting them and helping them to be more trendy and feel more pretty and that’s how everything started.

Passionate about fashion, I worked for ten years as a Visual Merchandiser. But I had started to miss the human side. So the decision to undertake in an intensive image consultant training in Europe, where I could personally help ladies experience the best version of themselves. This was the best introduction to the makeup world for me. I have learned the art of working with many skin tones, face shape, and eyes corrections, and to create a naturally flawless look.

Amazed by how quickly the makeup can change how a woman can feel about herself had inspired me to perfect my craft at Makeup Forever in Paris and enroll in the Mastered program. I quickly realized that my passion for fashion and my aesthetic makeup was a perfect mix for photographers, editorials, and commercials.

Since 2008, I have worked as a makeup artist between Switzerland and Paris for talented photographers, agency, major events, and private clients. And now I’m relocated to Los Angeles for some new challenges!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Already there is not that much going on in Switzerland about fashion, so it was hard to build something there, but I did! That’s the reason why I also decided to move more often to Paris, to have a chance to approach the real Fashion world. It wasn’t easy in the beginning, because you always start over when you go to a new place! And when you’re in this industry you have to give a lot of yourself before you see the results.

That’s what I’m experiencing now because I’m new here in L.A. It can be hard but at the same time is a good opportunity to get out of your comfort zone, build yourself stronger and meet amazing artists!

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m actually a Makeup Artist but also a Personal Shopper and a stylist for photo shoots. I specialize in making people looking and feeling there best, either for an occasion, photos or for every day with makeup or styling. I’m more known for makeup, but I’m passionate about both.

I’m proud because I have a lot of different services to offer. I hear sometimes people say “You need to specialize on one thing” I don’t agree with that! I think a lot of people are actually happy when they find one person that they trust and who is able to do different things that they need. I can even go to a shoot and do the makeup, the hair and the styling! I’m actually really proud because with all these different skills I’m even able today to put together an all photoshoot, the team together and create beautiful pictures!

I think my difference as a makeup artist and stylist, I have that European touch and I really pay attention to details.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t wait for luck! I believe that most of the people who have succeeded, are people that are passionate, never quite, learn from there mistakes and who are dedicated to working hard.
