Meet Ramon Valdez of Fine Art Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramon Valdez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At the time, the place where I was working only did commercial artwork presentation. I realized they weren’t providing custom services to artists, so I saw a demand to cater to artists’ presentation/fabrication needs and give them a place to feel comfortable to expand on their custom requests.

I decided to start providing these services on my own time, after my full-time schedule, in my garage. I started with artist friends and then the word spread. The demand grew so much that I had to move the business to a commercial space so that clients could see how serious it was getting.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’m happy to say that the struggles have lessened throughout the years. One of the struggles has been finding material and products that meet our high-quality museum/ gallery standards.

Most products are for commercial use and are prone to defects or flaws, so we’ve had to do our research to partner with vendors that provide the materials and products designed for fine art.

It’s been a learning curve, testing and successfully finding the materials, as well as the combination of materials, that we use now. Another challenge has always been finding the right team with the same vision and ambition.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fine Art Solutions – what should we know?
Fine Art Solutions is a custom finishing and presentation fabricator for fine art, including services such as artwork mounting, custom framing, various types of fabrication, and other special projects – we love challenges! We’re most proud of the relationships we’ve built with artists, galleries, and museums.

Knowing that they trust our services and that we’ve become a resource for them is what keeps us going and what makes our commitment stronger.

What sets us apart from others is the customization and hands-on care we provide for every project from start to finish – we never sacrifice the quality of a piece. We’re very committed to our clients and their needs, therefore, our standards have to be at the highest level.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Ever since we moved to Vernon, Fine Art Solutions has now become a compound for artists and other creative minds to network and feel comfortable exchanging ideas with us.

For this reason, we’re gearing up for upcoming art exhibitions at our gallery space, East 26 Projects, in efforts to support and promote local and international artists.

We’re also excited to be launching Soto Aguirre, a partnership brand for custom high-end wood designs. Both artistic ventures are based in the FAS compound.
