Meet Miss Mandy Motionless

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miss Mandy Motionless.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My father is a comic book artist for both DC and Marvel Comics; I suppose I started there. When I was young he tossed me in front of a children’s paint set and told me to paint, and when I was old enough (and in his eyes, good enough) he became my artistic mentor, and I began working under him and DC Comics. I have worked on titles like Superman, Batman: Widening Gyre, Aquaman, and many others.

Trained as an illustrator, I realized the market for such artwork and began at the age of fifteen traveling around the country doing art shows and comic conventions: Texas, Florida, Missouri, Kansas, Ohio, Hawaii and more. My crowning moment was drawing the San Diego Comic Con exclusive cover for the comic book ‘Lady Death.’ I feel like illustration is one passion, but, I felt I needed to go deeper and began going to art school for Fine Art and am not working on finishing my degree.

Art is just one small faction of my life; at age sixteen I jumped behind the camera for the first time and began my modeling career. This side of me started when my childhood best friend was taking a photography class in high school and needed a friend to jump into a sewer system for her images. She was attempting to show beauty in the nastiest places society has to offer. I was the only taker. Once I saw those images I realized how much I adored being behind the camera and wanted to give myself every discipline in the field.

I have experience in fashion, beauty, fetish, underwater, corset, gothic, pin-up, horror, special effects, bikini, and more. The only one I have not been able to conquer yet is runway, and that is due to me being a bit on the short side. Now, nearly six years later, I have over forty-five national/international publications, ten covers, and have even worked as a casting director for magazines.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, nothing in life is ever a smooth road. I have gained and lost friends due to creative differences… been too stubborn and block-headed to realize that it was not my way or the highway and overall realized my own shortfalls. It is hard to see your own mistakes until it is too late, but that is what makes us human as long as we learn from them of course.

The modeling industry for sure is cutthroat, and the women can be mean and catty, it is hard not to retaliate. I think to be a truly exceptional person in any field you can not let anyone stand in your way and remain level-headed and show kindness to everyone. That is the biggest struggle.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Miss Mandy Motionless – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
People have been telling me that as a model I excel in expressions. It is easy during a six-hour shoot with no breaks to get ‘dead eyes’ and neglect to emote during the experience. I look at every shoot as a performance and give my all every time and personally, I think it shows.

As for my art, I would say it is my mix of creepy imagery and pin-up poses. As a model, I adore the female form, and how graceful it can become and pinup mixes the dainty and sexual nature of the nude form and the amazing poses it can do. I simply gravitate to that. But I am a goth girl at heart, and I love to mix horror aspects into pinup poses without being ‘cheesecake.’

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I just keep trekking forward it seems. I just keep going, like the Energizer Bunny from hell. As of right now, I am a full-time student working two jobs and modeling on the side. My blood is coffee at this point. I am truly looking forward to graduation from college.

I want to attempt to get a job that combines my love of art and modeling and have already put in quite a few applications to Playboy’s art department. Who knows what the future holds?
