Meet Anusha Jain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anusha Jain.

Anusha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From a very young age, I was certain about one thing, that I wanted to come  to the United States Of America. This country has always been known to bring out the artistic side to a person,  so if I knew deep in my heart, I needed to be here to evolve into the person I see myself as. And, luckily it turned out to be just as I thought. But it wasn’t easy, being the first child of the family to go over seas. I had immense pressure, to make the right decisions. So, I was always in a box, scared, to let my real self out. But, my teachers at school made me believe in myself and my artistic expression. “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”, with that in my head, I had a break through with my pictures, and since I have not stopped, or looked back.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being the 18 year old, naive girl I was. I feared to make a home away from home in LA. I constantly, struggled with engaging in conversation, leaving me to think the worst of my capabilities. But, every dark cloud  has a silver lining. And, I be friended people, who have not only helped me grow, but showed me all that I’m capable of and more.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am an editorial photographer, for both fashion and products.  My forte I guess, would be art direction. Being a photographer, you always have the power to frame your subject, and that power gave me a directorial sense. I found, that photography doesn’t just lie in people expressions but in the real depth of whats around it.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I come from a joint family, I think having that many faces around me all the time, made me particularly intrigued about expressions, and what face suits what kind of personality. Seeing the whole family come together by the end of the day, sharing their stories, gave me a sense of stability, something I can, always fall back upon. Knowing, I have their support, and the variety of facial expressions etched in my memory, gave me the biggest asset to being a photographer. Even today, I scroll through my picture gallery, to see their faces, and it instantly transports me back, home and reminds me why I want to always be part of this field.
