Meet Haylee-Rae Averill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Haylee-Rae Averill.

Haylee-Rae, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a mother. I wanted to be many other things too (like a hair stylist, a photographer, a stylist, etc.), but being a mom was always my number one. When I met my now husband, he checked out in all the boxes I had in my head for a spouse/father of my children. He is kind, smart, funny, handsome, compassionate, and giving- I could go on, but I don’t want to bore you.

Fast forward four years, we now have two beautiful children, and they are everything we could have ever hoped for. My pregnancies were enjoyable for the most part, and while I was going through them (especially my first) I just knew that was what I was meant to be doing. We are very fortunate enough that I am able to also be a Stay At Home Mom; and while that is easily one of the most fulfilling things I have done in my life, I still felt the need to be doing something for myself.

Like mentioned before, all of the other careers that I had been interested in were all creative based- and that’s where Instagram comes in. I found that I could take photos of my home, and my daughter (and my family), and have that be a creative outlet. It has taken an amazing turn and become somewhat of a small income to our household as well, which is definitely a plus!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, yes. My husband is an amazing partner and is more supportive than I could have ever hoped for. That being said, there will always be struggles, and there will always be hurdles to overcome to get you where you want to be. But I have found that it is OK to ask for help; they’re not kidding with the phrase “it takes a village.”

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a SAHM, a part-time hairstylist, and have a growing Instagram account that I hope turns into a full-time job one of these days. One of the things I’m most proud of is honestly just being able to juggle it all. Booking clients, creating content, and still being hands-on with two kids has not come easily, but I have made it work, and for that I am proud!

What were you like growing up?
To be completely honest, I don’t think I have changed too much! When I was younger, I was constantly drawing, and taking photos, and acting in plays, and redecorating my room. I was always doing something that allowed me to have a creative outlet. I needed it, I thrived from it, and I still do!
