Meet Misty Marie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Misty Marie.

Misty, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born and raised by my grandparents in Seattle. There I was put in Dance, Piano, Ice Skating, acting classes and more. I grew a love for entertaining at a young age and moved towards it with every chance. I began classes at Seattle Children’s theater around 5, while also competing around the country with ice skating. Auditioned into advanced theater in Freshman year and obtained my BA in theater- concentration Acting for the Camera at UNLV.

An amazing program where your teachers were well known working actors and directors. After graduating, I moved to LA to pursue my dreams. It was a Struggle at 1st and can still be, but I have an amazing supportive team Tosha Lewis of Dream Management and The Brogan agency, that has been getting me wonderful opportunities!

From my IMDB:
Misty Marie- actress, plus model, dancer, ice skater. After graduating from UNLV with a BFA in Acting for the Camera, Misty moved to Los Angeles and hit the ground running. You can catch her now sharing screen time with Emmy nominated actress, Issa Rae in Season 3 of Insecure, New pilot on Netflix, “Huge in France” starring Gad Elmaleh, and TruTV’s, “Hack My Life”. She leads in comedic short film You Smell Like Shrimp hitting the festival circuit and comedic web-series, “SuperTacoXXL” on YouTube!

While pursuing acting, she fell into plus modeling and while acting is her focus, Misty has been lucky enough to work with such companies as Torrid, Ashley Stewart, Forever 21, Wet Seal, Seven, Roommates, and more. Raised in Seattle, Misty has been in acting class since she was a child, studying at The Seattle Children’s Theater, and auditioning into Advance Drama in High School. Misty, having a wide dramatic range, specializes in Improv and comedy and aims to shoot more feature films.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am an all-around artist. I love to dance, draw, sew, photograph, style even been known to do a little ceramic and paper mache, but acting is my main focus! I love the way art is a pure expression of yourself that you can then share and even move others with. You get to create and drive feelings which is a wonderful power! Growing up, I didn’t see a lot of representation of tv of me, but I still believed in myself, being plus sized, being mixed… I want to be the representation I never knew growing up. Being cast as a Doctor, Lawyer, Store Owner, etc allows girls to view themselves as those things, and in turn, gives a wider range for dreams and visual representation of that result! You should know about my work, that I loved every moment of creating it, and it flows directly from my heart. Also, when all else fails, I tend to lean towards humor, and prefer positive energy!

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Don’t give up.
Only you can tell yourself no.
Take all advice with a grain if salt as we ALL have our own journey.
GO WITH THE FLOW.
And most importantly, be positive energy.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can catch me sharing screen time with Emmy nominated actress, Issa Rae in Season 3 of Insecure, New pilot on Netflix, “Huge in France” starring Gad Elmaleh, and TruTV’s, “Hack My Life”. The comedic short film You Smell Like Shrimp which has JUST been excepted into the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival! I’m also on Comedic web-series, “SuperTacoXXL” on YouTube and more. Also was recently nominated by the C2 Awards for Best Actress.
