Meet KiLeigh Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to KiLeigh Williams.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Forensic Science was my major in college, but the creative direction was the path I ultimately took!

Born and raised in Marion, Indiana, I knew a simple life was content and stable… but risk-taking was the thrill and ultimately that’s what I wanted. So, after the following suit for four years and graduating from Point Park University with a science degree, I decided to run far and fast into the dream and reality I wanted. I moved to North Hollywood in 2014 and haven’t looked back. Creating art is the only thing I really know which is why I am so happy I decided to drop what WAS and really dive into what IS.

Please tell us about your art.
The art I create is through movement, visuals, and direction. I started off like a tap dancer! Traveling the world moving my feet, I discovered so many more styles of movement. Soon enough, I was in all the dance classes my studio offered at the time and I just wanted to learn more! Throughout the years and my own personal experiences, my movement has been something I have wanted to capture in others. That is when Visual Arts came into play, and I soon jumped into film work. Realizing I could capture so much just from a screen, I caught myself moving into directing. Now, I am the Founder of an all-female faculty dance intensive, The Gentle Ladies, directing, choreographing and filming! It really has been a dream come true. 🙂

My biggest take from this whole life journey thus far has been simple: Why not now?! The least that can happen is someone or something says “No” and guess what, you still make it happen!

I will always express what I know, and what I know is myself! (Im a huge instinct person). Timeless & Limitless… I hope that’s what people can see in the art I create.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
The biggest challenge artists face what I mentioned before… that simple word, “No.” With the arts, it can feel very personal when someone says no to something you created. But I promise you, if you have faith in what you do, it will flourish! The only thing you need to do is be firm in what you believe and push for the amazing beauty that art is. Everything we see is art! From the roads and stop signs you pass driving to work every day, to the food you make to eat for dinner. From the cars you drive or the train you take in and out of the city. From the relationships you create to the relationships that fall… it is ALL ART! The biggest challenge is yourself. Tackle that, and you can tackle the world. 🙂

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
