Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Moore.
Audrey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began acting at a very young age in Albuquerque, NM. I was in my first play, and my mother told me I was the only one she could hear. (I’ve always been loud.) And thanks to a small bit of maternal approval, a star was born!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’d be interested in who has a smooth road! Some of the struggles I face are those all actors come across.
1. Deciding what city to pursue your dreams.
2. Pursuing the career, not just the craft.
3. Continuing communication with other actors and people in the business of all levels of the business to learn the things nobody tells you until you’ve made a harmful mistake. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve discovered something or heard about someone else discovering something only to find out that it’s common and then been horrified that nobody tells anyone about it!
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m an actress and proud member of SAG-AFTRA. I’m most proud of my growth as both an actor in practice and in business. I came from very little but I’ve worked hard, taken risks, and continued at times I’d rather stay in bed forever. I think what sets me apart is my willingness to continue to pursue the craft and the career in the times when it’s VERY painful and uncomfortable.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Well, in my business there are trends. I wanted to come out here and be a romantic comedy star, but luck would have it that the genre died right around the time I arrived!
But as luck would have it, period scripted drama exploded around that same time, and I have a face and essence that works very well for period work.
