Art & Life with Christian Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Robinson.

Christian, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I was born and raised in Kansas City. When I was 8 years old I fully discovered Michael Jackson, instantly I started studying his music, dances and performances. My other influences whom I studied were Prince, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and an array of other legendary performers; never taking a dance class only learning by studying the greats. I did anything to be on stages in Kansas from musicals, talent shows, dance shows, and artist showcases. But I wasn’t getting where I knew I could go.
So then I finally rallied the courage to start street performing (singing and dancing) and quickly realized it was my greatest teacher. From there I street toured across different states and made the big move to California a year ago. Since then I’ve been street performing in Downtown Burbank every weekend bringing together a whole spectrum of people as an audience and fans. All the while working on original music, performances and shows. I see the consistent street performing as my ladder to help me get where I truly want to go as an artist, to keep me in top condition and to always be prepared for anything.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I street perform as well as make music. Every weekend I setup in Downtown Burbank to sing and dance for thousands of people. I want to create a beautiful space and atmosphere where people feel free to express themselves and let go of everything. It’s also a great way for me as an artist to always stay at my very best continually performing for hours. Bringing all sorts of people together on the street, shows how broad of an audience I am able to captivate as an artist. I love making kids and adults feel as though they’ve stepped inside a magical glittery bubble where they can be free and enjoy life just in that moment! I do it to be seen and to bring happiness to whatever area I’m performing in. As far as original music, I want to bring a sense of joy, magic, love and sparkle to peoples ears and uplift them with positivity.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
Put your art first and the money will naturally flow to you. It’s so simple that people over complicate it. If you know your passion go after it without questions. Dig dig dig, you have no idea when your shovel is going to hit gold.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My social media handle for everything is: @Shabudalz
Instagram is my favorite platform to use and is the best way to keep up with me! People can even book me for shows through direct message. The best way to support my work would be to spread the word and bring your friends and family to my street show on the weekends! I also love performing for private events, corporate events, weddings, or any other special event! I’m actively seeking investors to help accelerate my independent music career and I’m always open to new collaborations with artistic professionals!
