Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Herda.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ana. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Three years ago, inspired by the Latin phrase “Memento Mori” (Remember that you will die,” I started making enamel pins. That grew from one pin into apparel, home goods, and other items.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We’ve hit the normal bumps in the road and always try to learn from mistakes. I think once I stopped worrying about if people would like something and focused on if I liked it things started taking off. I just learned to trust my gut.
Memento Mori Goods – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We make Pins, Apparel and Unusuals with a spooky theme. We like to set ourselves apart from other pins as much as we can so if we can make something move or glow in the dark we’re going to. There’s been a lot of proud moments for us as a company; We’ve shipped items to all seven continents including the South Pole, This Halloween Georgia Hardstark (from the popular podcast My Favorite Murder) wore one of our pins onstage in front of the biggest podcast audience on record (7,000 people), We’ve made our own souvenir Floaty pens which is something I’ve collected all my life so personally that was a big deal, and I’m able to donate to more charities and organizations and help others as the business grows.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If I see someone wearing something of mine and it’s not a convention or spooky themed event just a random encounter, that’s when I feel like I’m successful and when my family started asking for stuff from the shop I know I’ve created something worth wearing.
