Check out Jonathan Garcia’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Garcia.

Jonathan, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I got introduced to shooting and editing video in my junior year of high school. I really enjoyed it, but didn’t think much of it. I went to college for business management, but ended up changing majors several times. I decided to take a break from school and then I just started making videos using my phone (iPhone 6s plus) during my spare time. People recommended I go to school for video and after the break I enrolled into The Art Institute of Houston. During my time there I got introduced to awesome professors, great friends, and amazing mentors that taught me everything I know. I’m now a cinematographer/editor intern for a company called The Futur in Santa Monica, California.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I consider myself a video creator that also likes to take pictures. I make videos about traveling, architecture, art exhibitions, and events. My current is a Sony A7sii with a Zeiss 16-35 f/4. For the longest time I had my Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 on my camera at all times, but since coming to LA I find myself sticking to the wide shots a lot more. My goal for my videos/pictures is to get people appreciate things more and see things differently. I get a ton of inspiration from all kinds of creatives like painters, sculptors, architects, and designers, my art is just an appreciation for others’ art.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I think social media can be an awesome tool for this. I have personally connected with tons of creatives through Twitter and Instagram DM’s. Though I rarely use it, Facebook Groups of your city and field is a great way to find a community.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can check out my artwork on Instagram/Twitter @JonaMGarcia. Sharing my work is the biggest type of support I can get. A simple retweet can put my work in the feed of someone who’s looking for what I do. I really appreciate everyone who has shared my work thus far, it really means a lot.
