Meet Justin Fix of Just Fix It Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Fix.

Founded in 2015 by creator Justin fix, just fix it productions is dedicated to bringing innovative, immersive storytelling and experiential events to the Los Angeles area. The JFI team is comprised of founder Justin Fix, producing partner J.T. Swierczek, writer/co-artistic director Daniel Montgomery, artistic director David Ruzicka, choreographer Stephanie Turek, and casting director lacy Forrest.

The emerging entertainment company launched with its first production, creep Los Angeles: a re-invention of the conventional Halloween experience, prioritizing disturbing performances and a new sensibility in stylish dread over jump-scares and chainsaws. Combining intimate interactivity with fully realized frightening environments; creep was met with rave reviews and returned for a second season in 2016 (entitled entry).

In 2017, JFI partnered with amazon studios to create a haunted immersive experience called lore (inspired by Aaron Mahnke’s popular podcast of the same name, as well as Amazon’s new streaming series). That same year, JFI launched the willows, a 2-hour modern twist on murder-mystery dinner theatre, set inside a sprawling 100-year old Los Angeles mansion. The willows were met with critical acclaim during its sold-out year-long run and was recently released as an interactive virtual reality experience through amaze VR.

BIO:
Justin Fix has a tenacious personality that drives him to fight for what he believes in.

After studying at the Roosevelt Performing Arts Conservatory in Chicago, Justin eagerly pursued a career in the arts, which would allow him to explore his lifelong fascination with horror and haunted houses.

Justin has performed for over twenty years, with various roles in productions ranging from national tours such as Cats, The Full Monty and Hairspray; to television, including shows such as Pretty Little Liars and Bones; and films, including August Falls and Terror on the Road.

Justin also boasts a strong hospitality and marketing background in which he has held many titles, including Director of Operations for a restaurant group and Executive Producer for the events firm, Bash Please.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Production is NEVER smooth. Every year we think we get better – and every year we seem to run into a new roadblock. Operating a “Live event” production company is always a wild ride due to the nature of the experience with guests. I’ve learned a lot about people…

We continue to understand the working system of Los Angeles as well. Keeping up with LAFD, Building and Safety, Permitting, Ticketing, etc.

Please tell us about Just Fix It Productions.
One of the pioneers of adventurous avant-garde theatre in Los Angeles, Just Fix It productions’ flagship show, creep, continues to expand on its dark and exciting brand of storytelling: unique environmental theatre where the guest truly feels like they’re inside of a horror movie.

The creep story world plays upon the word “creep” itself. It focuses on what makes someone a creep (“who’s behind the mask?”) while allowing the audience themselves to creep into a twisted world of shadows and nightmarish beauty.

Creep is a fully immersive, multi-sensory, walkthrough experience. Guests are guided by a cast of characters into a realm of frightful situations and one-on-one encounters, all dripping with style and dread.

-creep la: awake is an expansive, participatory experience across a massive 60,000 square foot performance space, in which only 25 audience members are invited to explore hidden scenes, intimate encounters, and frightful stories.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Started this company as a bucket list item… I’ve literally been trying to keep up with the company while remaining true to my dream and vision.
