Janiece, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Magic Hair Company in 2010 from my college apartment. At this time, I was a senior in college. I had a constant flow of ladies coming over to get their extensions installed by me. These ladies constantly expressed to me that they wanted higher quality extensions but they didn’t know where to find them. My clients would often order hair online and have horrible experiences with the quality of hair they received if they received anything at all. I then utilized my industry resources to secure reliable manufactures in China and India. After college, I then opened my retail store in Culver City, CA., January 2013 and have been here establishing myself as an industry leader. Magic Hair Company has evolved from a college apartment into a one of a kind retail hair extension boutique that specializes in custom wigs, custom color, and installations.

Has it been a smooth road?
It most defiantly has been a challenge. I opened a retail business without having any retail or corporate experience. I have learned how to run my business with hands-on experience. The advice I would give another women entrepreneur is to do what you love. Make sure you are passionate about your business. Develop a vision and execute that vision anyway possible. Be flexible about how you execute the vision without changing the destination. But most importantly just get started and do it. And find a industry mentor if possible.

At Magic Hair Company we provide a one of a kind hair extension experience. We specialize in natural looking, easy to wear, custom full lace wigs. We have a wide variety of display wigs available in our Culver City store. Clients can come in select a wig and go. Our clients also have the option to have their extensions custom colored in store. After their extensions are done with customization, we can then book them an appointment in our salon and have them professionally installed. When a client comes in, we give them a one on one consultation allowing them the time to go over all of the custom options and their specific concerns about the desired look they want to achieve. Our clients are everyday women, women with cancer and hair loss issues, and women who just want to switch up their look. We are known for providing amazing quality extensions and great customer service. Magic Hair Company has also introduced a hair care product line for clients to care for there extensions and natural hair at home. I spend a lot of time on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Social media is a very important platform I use to grow my business. Social media is a great resource that I recommend all small business to use. It’s a great way for clients to get to know you and your product.
