Today we’d like to introduce you to Jingge Song.
Jingge, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Before I decided to be an artist, I wanted to run a global trading company, so I studied German as my first major. During the study, I worked in galleries and lived in Berlin. Through these experiences I decided to chase a dream of being an artist, so I packed my stuff and left Germany for my art education in SFAI. Now I move to LA to experience the bigger art scene. Through years of study in the states, I realized that there are many talented young artists are gentrified by cities like San Francisco, which they could not keep making art or take them much longer time to depend on art to survive. So, besides making art, I am also creating a platform to create curation opportunities in USA Germany and China for emerging artists who based in these countries.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My contents about my paintings can be broad range from the concern of the endangered animals to the feeling of nostalgia translated into an abstract form. I use my paintings to express my concerns, my feelings, and my expectations. In this series, I became particularly interested in the per- ils of the animal trades. I wish to bring awareness to animal protection. On the other hand, I am also trying to explore and experiment the boundary of conventional paintings, from by using unconventional mediums on paintings to use the mycelium foam as a support to paint.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
I am still learning. I do believe hard working pays off.
