Meet Brett Freedman of Brett Brow in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett Freedman.

Brett, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I moved to LA in 1996 to work on set as a makeup artist. Once I got to LA and started working with actresses, I got spokesperson deals with cosmetic companies to chat red carpet looks and trends. I decided to create my own line of brow products in 2006. It took a little over a year to develop and in 2007 I launched Brett Brow. It was perfect synchronicity adding my products in the rundown of glam I used on actresses.

Mainly a proline (available in such legendary studio makeup shops like Naimie’s and Friends. In 2016 I sold to Sephora, which introduced my very pro-centric line to the masses. With guys and gals getting very insider how-to’s on Instagram and YouTube, my business flourished. Now in its 11th year, I’ve used my brow products on everyone from Taylor Swift to Sarah Silverman.

Has it been a smooth road?
There were challenges along the way. I like to say “If I knew how hard it was to have your own line of cosmetics… I never would have done it”! Ignorance truly is bliss. I’m so happy now, and very grateful… but there has been a price.

Since I was doing shoots while building my business, days were long and my personal life suffered. All the dust has settled and I manage everything now, thankfully!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
When I started Brett Brow in 2007, eyebrows were just starting to get a lot of attention. Now everyone is in the eyebrow game. That’s cool, there are definitely enough arches for everybody! My very pro-centric vibe has been embraced by not just makeup artists but ‘civilian’ women looking to make the most of their arches.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
LA is such a fantastic place to have a creative business. With such a diverse and socially active population… word on what’s new and hot spreads quickly!
