Today we’d like to introduce you to Akshita Khurana.
Akshita, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Having come from an IT background where you don’t get to talk to people much, I was very passionate about meeting people and to-do something creative. I started doing events professionally in 2016 and since then have never looked back. To name some of the successful events that we (OIC Team) have done are India Independence Day Celebration (2016, 2017), Pretty in Pink (Women Empowerment Gala) International Women’s Day celebration 2018, Mother’s Day Celebration (2017, 2018), Bollywood Spring Fusion (2017, 2018), and many more. This year we have done several events so far in San Diego, Lake Forest, Buena Park & Irvine. All of them were a huge success. We always make sure to give quality to our guests!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is usually more important than the outcome. No journey is said to be smooth when you are on the path to success. Like all other successful people, I also had my part of obstacles.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Our Indian Culture – what should we know?
“Our Indian Culture” as the name describes, has been bringing Indian community together by organizing events that are of interest to the Indian community in Southern California. We are most proud of our achievements, as well as special recognition and award from California State Assembly and Congresswoman Mimi Walters. We have also received a certificate of recognition from the City of Lake Forest for bringing the Indian community together.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
To me, success is achieving your personal and professional goals. Success is the ability to do what you love every day. This may sound simple but what you love changes over time and having the ability to change what you are doing to match your passion is a true success.
