Rising Stars: Meet Pen Name Yetta Yvette Pratt of California/Nevada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pen Name Yetta Yvette Pratt.

Hi Pen Name Yetta Yvette, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had gone through a tragedy, with the loss of my beloved, Mister. I couldn’t understand, but Prostate Cancer had taken him away from me. I cried day and night…I was extremely depressed. On that day, I cried out and I heard GOD’s voice. He said, “You asked for a story.” How ironic! When I was in college, my English Professor tried to persuade me to become a writer. At the time, I couldn’t see writing, as my future career. So, I declined. I told her, “The only way I would write is if it’s a true story.” I felt I needed to experience life. In order, to be able to produce inspiring and relatable stories. When I heard GOD’s voice, I realized I had experienced it, so I could write about it. I wrote night and day…it soothed my pain. “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number” was born. Now, I’m a published author.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Losing my father during Covid was a struggle for me. I needed that time to grieve. So, I did and kept on writing. The biggest challenge always is financial resources, because being an author can get very expensive. You must market yourself constantly, in order, to be able to find the right readers for your stories. It has been a process, but I realized that things don’t happen in our time. It happens in God’s timing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an author who has written two books called, “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number,” and “Football Superstar.” Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number” is based on an incredible true story of my life and won runner-up with Shelf Unbound for best indie book. “Football Superstar” is based on real events of my dear friend’s life. Also, I produced a book for my nieces and nephew called, “Adventures of the Children’s Story.” An adorable children’s book, that has three lessons within the stories, and written by children. In 2022, Adventures of the Children’s Story won the Female of Fiction Literary Award from Hindi’s Libraries. Also, I’ve completed the audiobooks for “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number” and “Football Superstar.” Available at Audible, Amazon, Apple Books, iTunes, and where books are sold. I’m most proud of being able to turn my tragedy into a success story. I’m currently working on adapting my books into movies. I love telling inspiring stories. Stories that the audience can learn from and gain strength, especially, during a much crucial time.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was an outgoing and fun kid, who loved to participate in choir, basketball, softball, dancing, modeling, and drill team. In the sixth grade, I was the school president. I loved a lot of attention. LOL..I loved the spotlight!
