Rising Stars: Meet Hunter Aaron of Mostly all around LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Aaron.

Hi Hunter , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Rebecca Wesson, and I am helping write this story about my son, Hunter Aaron, who has been a voice actor since he was nine years old. I am his Personal Manager. It was Tom Kenny (voice of Sponge Bob and many other characters) singing with his band at Hunter’s school when he was eight years old, in addition to Hunter’s nonstop, voicing of characters for his toys and cartoons all day long, that got him into the career of voice acting. He met Tom Kenny, and I said to him do you want to do that? He said yes yes yes! I wanna be a person that voices cartoon characters like SpongeBob. That was the end of that.! 11 years later, and probably thousands of auditions, Hunter has voiced many commercials, played Sparky the Firetruck in two seasons of Superwings, been off camera voices in TV shows and is currently voicing some incredible creatures in video games that we can’t divulge at the current moment because they are under NDAs. Hunter specializes in crazy monsters, and Creature sounds, as well as performing motion, capture and performance, capture characters, in addition to every other type of voice acting you can imagine. It’s been quite the ride! This business takes a lot of passion, dedication and constant practice, and education because the competition is so steep!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We got lucky, because we started coaching with one of the top people in Hollywood, and her name is Jeannie Elias. She specialized in coaching young voices for animation and commercials. Together, we mapped out what Hunter’s career was going to look like, so she helped us get into first non-union, and then helped Hunter get accepted to his agency, VOX, Inc, and we’ve been working with them ever since. The hardest part has been the massive amount of competition of really excellent actors since the Covid. Every stage actor became a voice actor overnight and everyone had their own professional home studio within a year. The competition for each character and/or project became tenfold. Despite all of that, Hunter is considered one of the best, especially when it comes to Creature acting. I am very proud of him, and we have spent a lot of money and time, and we are hoping that this will all pay off very soon in a big way! For anyone who’s considering becoming a voice actor, I always tell them it’s a great field, and there are many different avenues and types of voice acting, but don’t look at it as a way to make a constant living over time. The Covid really did change everything, and some of the projects are pulling from actors all over the world!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As far as I know, Hunter is the first voice actor to create a full, Performance Capture Creature Reel, completely performed, live, and without any manipulations of his voice. It was a very exciting and huge project, and we tried to make it like a movie trailer! You can check it out either on his Instagram page @hunteraaron_18, or on his website: www.hunteraaron.com. We are looking forward to adding more and more skills, including sword, fighting and other stage combat for motion capture and performance capture characters, as well as looking into live announcing for sports events and things like that. Hunter may also become a content creator for social media and his YouTube channel, but there is a huge challenge there when it comes to AI cloning. This is a big challenge for all creatives in every area, unfortunately. We continue to really push his specialization of all kinds of very creative monsters and creatures. Can’t wait for all of you to hear them!

What’s next?
We continue to look forward to landing more and more roles for creatures and monsters, and being able to be as creative as possible. It is so much fun! I used to be a voice pathologist, and I can manage not only Hunter‘s career, but also his vocal health. Many actors that do roles that require a lot of screaming, and Creature noises can ruin their vocal folds. It’s exciting, but can be a little dangerous!
