Rising Stars: Meet Tifini Hartman of Huntington beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tifini Hartman.

Hi Tifini, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in the beauty industry actually started with makeup! Nearly 20 years ago, I began working as a makeup artist, spending time in salons and traveling for weddings. I loved the creativity of it and helping women look and feel beautiful.

I remember wanting to take certain advanced makeup classes but being turned away because I didn’t have a professional license. Instead of letting that stop me, I was determined to go back to school, get licensed, and return to take those classes!

What I didn’t expect was to completely fall in love with skincare along the way. As I learned more about how the skin functions and what it takes to create healthy, beautiful skin, my entire perspective shifted. I realized I was even more passionate about transforming someone’s skin to the point where they felt confident wearing little to no makeup. What started as a way to further my makeup career ended up changing the direction of my career entirely.

I became a licensed esthetician in 2009, and that same year, Beauty by Tifini was born. I knew I wanted to build something of my own, where I had the freedom to create a personalized experience for every client, choose treatments I truly believed in, and make people feel genuinely cared for.

I began building my clientele one relationship at a time, eventually renting my own treatment room before opening my current Huntington Beach studio in 2016.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road! I spent the first five years of my career building my clientele, actually making less money than I did when I started working for my very first boss. I loved what I did, but building a business from the ground up definitely came with its challenges.

Eventually, I took a leap and rented a single treatment room inside someone else’s business. I was so excited to have a space of my own, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a really difficult environment. I was often made to feel like an outsider, which was incredibly discouraging when I was working so hard to build something I was proud of.

But that experience only made me more determined. I kept my head down, focused on my clients, saved every penny I could, and searched for the perfect space to call my own. I couldn’t wait to finally be my own boss and create an environment that reflected everything I believed in.

In 2016, that dream became a reality when I opened my Huntington Beach studio. After experiencing an environment where I didn’t feel welcome, creating a space where everyone feels comfortable, valued, and genuinely cared for became even more important to me.

Looking back, those challenging years taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of trusting my vision. Celebrating 10 years in my own studio this year has made me appreciate just how far I’ve come!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the owner of Beauty by Tifini Skin + Brow Bar, a private studio in Huntington Beach specializing in advanced skincare, corrective treatments, and natural-looking brows.

My favorite part of what I do is helping people feel confident in their own skin. Whether we’re working on acne, pigmentation, aging, or overall skin health, I love creating a personalized plan and seeing those transformations happen over time. I’m a firm believer in working with the skin, not against it, and focusing on long-term results.

I’m also a huge education junkie! This industry is constantly evolving, and I love learning new techniques, investing in technology, and bringing the best treatments back to my clients. Most recently, I was honored to be selected as one of just 17 Hydrafacial Esthetician Ambassadors in the US, which was such a proud moment for me!

But honestly, what I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built. Some of my clients have been with me for over a decade! I’ve created a space where people can feel comfortable, cared for, and completely themselves. I think that balance of results-driven treatments and genuine personal connection is what makes BBT special. After all these years, I still absolutely love what I do!

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that success doesn’t happen overnight. Building something of your own takes patience, consistency, and a lot of believing in yourself, especially during the years when things aren’t going as planned.

I’m so grateful for the community that’s supported Beauty by Tifini over the last 17 years. What started as a passion has turned into a career and a space I genuinely love showing up to every day. And the best part? I still feel like there’s so much more to learn and accomplish!
