Conversations with Heather Roma Wicks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Roma Wicks.

Hi Heather Roma, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Heather, founder of Lupasamama, Sacred Woman Collective Hi Desert, and Beer Burros & Brands, and the host of Morongo Valley Ranch, a ten-acre desert retreat near Joshua Tree. I was born in the Virgin Islands and grew up with a yoga teacher dad who introduced me to breathwork and retreats at age three. That early rhythm shaped everything I create now.

After a career in fashion, retail, and e-commerce, I found my true calling during the pandemic: offering transformative experiences. Through Lupasamama, I facilitate earth medicine journeys and microdosing support, pairing the medicine with integration mentorships so the transformation lasts. At the ranch, I host women’s circles, sunset gatherings, mommy-and-me retreats, and weekend desert escapes. Through Beer Burros & Brands, I bring rescue burros to events and teach guests about the animals’ plight.

I’m also an influencer who partners with ethical and sustainable brands. I’m a mom, a ranch wife, and a believer in magic, and I write personal essays on Substack.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely be trials and tribulations along the way but I’m a big believer in everything happens for a reason so now, I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

I’ve also gotten better throughout the years of following the breadcrumbs of life and not having too tight of a hold on my visions for each business. This leaves room for magic and the unimaginable.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Even though I have several businesses, overall I like to say I craft multi transformational and medicinal experiences.

After years in fashion, retail, and e-commerce, the pandemic showed me my true calling: creating transformative experiences.

I believe everything I do is quite outside of the box so each business is inherently setting me apart:

Lupasamama: earth medicine journeys, microdosing support, and integration mentorship

Sacred Woman Collective Hi Desert: women’s circles, sunset gatherings, and desert retreats

Beer Burros & Brands: rescue burros for events and private brunches (and yes, you’ll want to adopt one)

It’s really hard to pick something I’m most proud of but I just really love to transform people’s lives (especially with the work I do with women).

What’s next?
Each of my three businesses are consistently growing each year and I’m happy about that because I know this is all my dharma.

But as for big picture; I’d like to open up other retreat centers similar to our desert wellness ranch in Montana and Costa Rica.
