Daily Inspiration: Meet Tawain Clayborn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawain Clayborn.

Hi Tawain, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was a little boy, I always dreamed of being in the entertainment industry. I wanted to be a model, an actor, and someone who could bring stories to life through the art of entertainment. Honestly, I didn’t know exactly how I was going to make it happen, but I knew it was something I wanted to pursue.

When I turned 21, I moved to Los Angeles to chase that dream and give myself a chance to make it a reality. I started looking for opportunities on Instagram and Craigslist, attending casting calls and auditions, and putting myself out there even when I didn’t know what to expect. Along the way, I began meeting people, building relationships, and connecting with others who shared similar passions.

Looking back, that’s really how my journey began. I didn’t have everything figured out, and I didn’t have a perfect roadmap, but I had the courage to take that first step. I started creating opportunities for myself, learning as I went, and building my career one experience at a time. My journey into entertainment has taught me that sometimes you have to take a chance on yourself before you can see where your dreams will take you.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Baby, let me tell you, this journey has not been a smooth ride. Being in the entertainment industry has been a struggle, and there have been moments when I questioned myself, my abilities, and whether I should even continue pursuing this dream. But through it all, this industry has taught me so much about life, people, resilience, and, most importantly, myself.

There have been times when I wanted to give up, when the rejection felt overwhelming, and when I wondered if I was truly on the right path. But somehow, in those moments, something within me always reminds me that I am exactly where I need to be. I remind myself that I deserve to be in these rooms just as much as anybody else. I belong here, too, and I have just as much right to pursue my dreams as anyone else.

This journey has taught me that rejection doesn’t define my worth, and somebody else’s inability to see my potential doesn’t mean I lack it. If anything, every no motivates me to work harder, grow stronger, and become even more determined to prove to myself what I am capable of. I’m learning not to take every rejection personally, but instead to use it as fuel to keep going.

At the end of the day, this dream has been a part of me since I was a little boy, and I owe it to that little boy to keep showing up for myself. I didn’t come this far just to give up when things get difficult. I’m still learning, still growing, still building relationships, and still finding my place in this industry. My journey may not look like everybody else’s, but it’s mine, and I’m proud of myself for continuing to show up even on the days when it’s hard.

I’m not where I want to be just yet, but I’m grateful for how far I’ve come. And no matter how many times this industry tells me no, I’m going to keep believing in myself until the right yes comes along.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I’m most proud of is my consistency in pursuing my career as an actor, even when this industry gets difficult. It’s not an easy business to be in, and there have been moments when I’ve questioned myself, felt discouraged, or wanted to give up. But something about this craft keeps calling me back.

From doing the research, preparing for auditions, booking projects, and building relationships with different directors, producers, and writers, I’ve learned that this journey is about so much more than just getting a role. It’s about growth, discipline, connections, and becoming a better version of myself as an artist.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I also have to give credit to my friends, the people who have seen it all and stood by me through every high and low, every challenge, every journey, every moment of happiness, and every success along the way. They’ve witnessed the journey firsthand, including the moments when things weren’t easy and I was still trying to figure it all out.

I’m grateful for the people who have continued to love me, encourage me, believe in me, and remind me of my potential, even when I couldn’t see it for myself. Having people in my corner who genuinely want to see me win is something I will never take for granted.
