Today we’d like to introduce you to YUKI SHUNDO.

Hi YUKI, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in Japan, where I discovered my passion for music, dance, and creative expression at a young age. At 18, I made the life-changing decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams. Moving to a new country on my own came with challenges, but every experience helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Over the years, I’ve explored different areas of the entertainment industry, including dance, choreography, music, and creative direction. Along the way, I created SELECT, a dance community that brings people together through movement, creativity, and self-expression.

My journey hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned to embrace challenges and continue evolving. Today, I remain passionate about being creative, exploring new possibilities, and inspiring others to express themselves. I believe there’s always room to grow, and I’m excited to see where life takes me next.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Moving to a new country at a young age came with many challenges, from language and cultural differences to finding my place in a competitive industry. There were moments of uncertainty, setbacks, and times when things didn’t go as planned.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. Every challenge has taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of believing in myself. Looking back, I’m grateful for those experiences because they’ve shaped who I am today and continue to push me forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work revolves around creativity, movement, music, and bringing ideas to life. My background includes choreography, creative direction, performance, and music, and I love exploring different ways to express myself through each of them.

One of the things I’m most proud of is creating SELECT, a dance community that brings people of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences together through movement and self-expression. Seeing people grow in confidence, discover their potential, and connect with others is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart is my versatility and willingness to step outside the box. I don’t like limiting myself to one style or direction. I enjoy combining different creative elements, exploring new ideas, and continuously challenging myself to grow. For me, creativity is about staying curious, being authentic, and never being afraid to try something new.

How do you think about luck?
I believe luck plays a role in life, but I also believe we create our own opportunities through hard work, determination, and the choices we make. I’ve been fortunate to meet inspiring people and experience opportunities that have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Of course, not everything has gone as planned, and I’ve experienced both good and bad luck along the way. But I’ve learned that even unexpected challenges can lead to new opportunities. I believe staying open-minded, taking chances, and maintaining a positive attitude can turn difficult situations into something meaningful. Sometimes, what seems like bad luck at first can lead you exactly where you need to be.
