Daily Inspiration: Meet Mary Beth Lowry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Beth Lowry.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Mindful Moments LA started with a simple idea: **bringing people together through meaningful experiences centered around wellness, connection, and community.**

In late 2024, I hosted my very first event with a small group of 25 women. I partnered with a local yoga and sound bath instructor to create an intimate experience focused on holistic health and wellness. At the time, I had no idea what it would grow into. I just knew I wanted to create a space where people could slow down, connect with themselves, meet new people, and leave feeling better than when they arrived.

By day, I work full-time in digital technology for a major grocery retailer. My professional background spans technology, product management, marketing, and creative strategy, but I’ve always had a passion for health, wellness, bringing people together, and creating memorable experiences. I started Mindful Moments LA as a way to bring those different skill sets and passions together while building something that felt personally meaningful.

What started as one small gathering has organically grown into a South Bay-based wellness events company, bringing together hundreds of people through intentional experiences. We’ve expanded beyond traditional wellness events to create experiences that combine movement, mindfulness, recovery, education, creativity, and social connection.

Today, we host several different types of experiences, including *Dip Into Wellness*, our larger-scale community wellness events that bring together local practitioners, wellness brands, and attendees, and *After Dark*, our alcohol-free social wellness series that combines movement, meditation, music, and mocktails.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been watching the community grow and seeing the relationships that come from these events. Whether it’s someone making a new friend, discovering a local business, trying a new wellness practice, or simply taking a few hours to prioritize themselves, those moments are what make this work so meaningful to me.

I’m still balancing my full-time career while building Mindful Moments LA, and there’s been a lot of learning, experimenting, and growing along the way. But what started as a passion project has evolved into something with a much bigger purpose.

My hope is to continue creating experiences that inspire people to be more intentional with their time, prioritize their well-being, and build authentic connections with the people and communities around them.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not! One of the biggest challenges has been balancing building a business while working full-time. While I enjoy my career in digital technology, growing Mindful Moments LA outside of my 9-to-5 has required a lot of time, energy, and intentionality.

Early on, I explored different opportunities, including helping clients plan and execute their own events. While I love bringing other people’s visions to life, I quickly realized that traditional event planning requires a level of availability and communication that can be challenging while working full-time. Through that experience, I discovered that what truly lights me up is creating my own event concepts, building relationships with brands, and bringing people together through experiences I’m passionate about.

I’ve also had to learn how to wear all the hats of being a small business owner, from marketing and partnerships to budgeting and event execution. And there’s definitely some irony in building a wellness business while sometimes struggling to find balance myself!

Ultimately, one of my biggest lessons has been learning that building something meaningful doesn’t mean saying yes to every opportunity. It’s about understanding your strengths, setting boundaries, and being intentional about where you invest your time and energy.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Mindful Moments LA, we specialize in creating intentional experiences that bring people together through wellness, creativity, and connection. What I think sets us apart is our approach to building authentic, integrated partnerships with brands, where the brand becomes part of the experience rather than simply a logo on a flyer or a product in a goodie bag.

Earlier this year, I attended an Ancient & Brave pop-up on Abbot Kinney, which sparked an opportunity to incorporate their hydration supplement into a custom mocktail for one of our events with Maison Mi. It’s those types of creative collaborations that I love bringing to life.

Working in grocery retail, I understand how challenging it can be for emerging brands to build awareness, reach new customers, and gain traction before making it onto retail shelves. Through our events, we’re able to introduce wellness brands to engaged, health-conscious communities in ways that feel natural and memorable. It’s about creating value for both the brand and the people attending.

But what I’m most proud of is the community we’re building. I’ve met so many people who are new to the South Bay or simply struggling to make friends as adults. Hearing people share that they’ve made a new friend, discovered a new wellness practice, or felt a sense of belonging at one of our events is incredibly rewarding.

In a world that’s increasingly fast-paced and digitally driven, I believe there’s something really special about creating spaces for genuine, in-person connection. Technology can do so many incredible things, but it can’t replace the feeling of being in a room with people, sharing an experience, and forming authentic relationships.

At the end of the day, that’s what Mindful Moments LA is all about.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you can’t say yes to everything, and progress is always better than perfection. When you’re passionate about what you’re building, it’s easy to want to take on every opportunity, but I’ve learned how important it is to be intentional with my time and energy.

I’ve also learned to embrace the process of growing and improving along the way. Every event is an opportunity to learn something new, gather feedback, make adjustments, and create an even better experience the next time. Not everything is going to go perfectly, and that’s okay!

The goal isn’t to get everything right the first time. It’s to keep showing up, learning, and getting a little better with every experience.
