Daily Inspiration: Meet Marika Takeuchi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marika Takeuchi.

Marika, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Japan. I started playing piano at the age of three, and played violin and French horn for several years when I was young. I also loved singing and dancing, and I always knew music was my passion. As I’ve grown into my teen years, I started struggling with depression, and music really helped me through it for years. I decided to study composition and music production at a music college, and later studied film scoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I released my first EP when I was a student there, and scored for short films. Since then I’ve been writing music both as an artist and a media composer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a career and life as an artist in a foreign country was a big challenge for me. And now that I have two young children, it’s been a challenge to find the right balance of work and life as I enjoy being a mother as much as a composer.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a composer and pianist, and write modern classical music. I’m an artist and media composer, and more known as an artist. And people who listen to my music often say kindly that my music brings so much emotions.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My latest EP Iridescence is available on all platforms and the vinyl is available on my website.
