Today we’d like to introduce you to Haze Amor.
Hi Haze, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My creative journey has always been rooted in storytelling. Photography was my first love, and I’ve spent over 15 years building a relationship with the art of capturing moments, people, and the things that make us feel something. Before expanding into videography and creative direction, I explored painting, which has always been another part of how I express myself creatively.
Over the years, my work has evolved beyond the camera. I’ve found myself drawn to different ways of bringing ideas to life, from visual storytelling to developing concepts and creating experiences that allow people to connect with something beyond the surface. No matter the medium, I’ve always been interested in the feeling behind the image and the stories we can tell without necessarily having to say much at all.
Lately, I’ve been finding my way back to painting, and it feels like a full-circle moment. It’s a part of my creative journey that I haven’t explored as much in recent years, and returning to it now has given me a new appreciation for the ways my perspective continues to evolve. There’s something special about revisiting an old love and discovering that you can approach it with an entirely new set of eyes.
I think my journey has been less about following one straight path and more about allowing my artistry to evolve with me. Photography will always be my foundation, but I’m excited to explore the different ways I can translate my ideas, experiences, and perspective into art. I’m in a season of welcoming that evolution and allowing myself to be curious about what comes next.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. I think any creative journey comes with its fair share of detours, and mine has been no exception. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to remain authentic in spaces that don’t always make room for you to do so. As an artist, it’s easy to feel pressure to fit into a particular mold, follow a certain formula, or become a version of yourself that is more easily understood or accepted by others.
I’ve had to learn that staying true to my perspective doesn’t always make the road easier. Sometimes it means taking the longer route, making decisions that don’t immediately make sense to everyone else, or allowing myself to outgrow things that once felt familiar. There’s also the challenge of evolving as a creative while giving yourself permission to change direction, explore new interests, and redefine what success looks like on your own terms.
But I think those experiences have taught me that authenticity isn’t just about knowing who you are; it’s about having the courage to honor that, even when doing so comes with uncertainty. The detours have shaped my perspective, and that perspective ultimately finds its way into my work. I’m learning to see the potholes less as things that have taken me off course and more as part of what has helped me understand my own path.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer and multidisciplinary visual artist with over 15 years of experience behind the camera. Photography has always been my first love, and my work primarily lives at the intersection of nature, street, and editorial photography. I’m drawn to the relationship between people and their environments, the beauty in everyday moments, and the small details that can often go unnoticed when we’re moving through life too quickly. Over the years, I’ve also expanded into styling, videography, and creative direction, and more recently, I’ve been reconnecting with painting as another form of expression.
What I’m most proud of is how I’ve allowed my creativity and interests to extend beyond any one medium or industry. That hasn’t always happened by chance; a lot of it has come from making intentional decisions to step outside of what’s familiar, take risks, and challenge myself to grow both personally and creatively. My experiences working in fashion helped shape my eye for aesthetics and the way I approach creative expression, but they also taught me that the things I’m passionate about don’t have to exist in separate worlds. That same instinct to create something intentional and meaningful eventually led me to build So(U)l Smoothies, my vegan, sustainable, and organic smoothie brand. My background in hospitality and bartending has also given me an entirely different outlet for creativity, one rooted in connection, experience, and bringing people together. Each experience has contributed something different to how I approach my work and the things I build.
I think what sets me apart is my willingness to let my interests inform one another rather than confining myself to a single lane. I’m comfortable being a student of something new, even after spending years establishing myself in another space. I love that these different interests can intersect while still allowing individual talents to shine in their own light. Whether I’m photographing a landscape, capturing an unexpected moment on a city street, developing a visual concept, creating a new painting, or curating an experience for people, I’m drawing from different parts of myself. I’m interested in more than how something looks; I’m interested in how it feels, what it communicates, and how it connects with people.
Ultimately, I see all of my pursuits as different expressions of the same instinct: to observe, interpret, connect, and bring ideas to life. I’m proud that I’ve given myself permission to take the less predictable route, trust my instincts, and follow my creativity into unexpected places. Some of my greatest growth has come from being willing to take those chances, and I’m excited to see where that willingness takes me next.
How do you think about happiness?
Good food, beautiful environments, traveling, and good company. I’m someone who really appreciates experiences and the little details that make them memorable. I love discovering a new place, sitting down to an incredible meal, being surrounded by beautiful scenery, or sharing a good laugh with people I enjoy. I’m equally happy exploring somewhere unfamiliar or finding a little pocket of peace in an otherwise ordinary day.
I think what makes those things so meaningful to me is the feeling they create. I’m drawn to experiences that allow me to be present, connect with people, explore different perspectives, and take in the world around me. A lot of my inspiration comes from simply living, and I think there’s something special about being able to find joy in both the grand experiences and the everyday ones.
