Rising Stars: Meet Khaatia Vantiger of Los Angeles / OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khaatia Vantiger.

Hi Khaatia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My creative journey has taken different forms, from beauty and floral design to painting and teaching. Creativity has been a thread throughout my life, and I’m now giving myself more room to explore where it can take me.

I’m in a season of transition, building my brand, Petals & Water, with the dream of fully supporting myself through art and creativity. It brings together art, wellness, and education, with community and connection at its heart.

I’m creating work that feels more authentic to me and developing Lotus Dynasty, my first major solo project, inspired by African diaspora and Asian influences. I’m also excited about Art for ESL, which brings together English learning and art, allowing me to share my creative skills and connect with international audiences in a different way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One challenge has been helping people understand the care, consistency, and support it takes to build a community. So much of that foundation happens before you see the growth.

There are moments when I ask myself, “Is my work worth it?” But the way people respond when they experience it reminds me that it is meaningful.

I’m building with intention, but I’m also building on a prayer. I keep showing up because I believe in a better tomorrow for the generations after me and in the small world my husband and I are creating together.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Creative Wellness Artist and the founder of Petals & Water, where I bring together art, wellness, and education. Through painting, workshops, and community storytelling, I create opportunities for people to slow down, express themselves, and connect.

My collection, Lotus Dynasty, explores African diaspora and Asian influences through bold colors, masks, and botanicals. I also created Bloom Brighter, a 30-day guide with small routines for creativity and reconnection, and Art for ESL, where English is the curriculum and art is the communicative vehicle.

I’m most proud of creating experiences where people feel comfortable trying something new. Seeing someone become more confident, express a feeling, or connect with another person through art means so much to me.

What makes my work personal is how these different practices come together. Whether I’m painting or guiding a workshop, I want people to feel welcomed and have room to bring their own experiences into what we create.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to believe in yourself and bet on yourself. Even when encouragement is hard to find, you’re in an unfamiliar community, or you’re the only one who sees your vision, your dreams still deserve a chance.

It’s okay to pivot. It’s okay to move and try something different. People may think you’re all over the place, but they don’t know your whole journey, what you’ve overcome, or why a change makes sense for you. You’re the one living your life.

Be true to yourself. When the nights get hard, return to the little practices that help you feel grounded. That’s part of why I created Bloom Brighter, to share reminders and routines that have helped me reconnect with myself.

Hold on to your dreams, even while the path is changing.
