Meet Cecil of venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecil.

Hi cecil, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was very fortunate to land a gig at Elias Arts when I was just starting to navigate towards a career in music. It was one of the major music houses in both NYC and Santa Monica. Those days were so inspiring , and I was constantly surrounded by such incredibly talented artists and musicians. I am forever grateful to everyone I got to work with at Elias. It truly nurtured my skills and confidence as a composer. While there, I was involved in literally hundreds of commercials including such clients as Nike, Infiniti, BMW and many others.. I also had the opportunity to contribute to such albums as Robert Downey Jr.’s solo record “The Futurist”, Tricky’s “Vulnerable”, Lou Rawls’ “Christmas” and Jonathan Elias’ “The Prayer Cycle”, which included ,Sting, Alanis Morissette, Perry Farrell, Salif Keita, Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Jonathan Davis of Korn and Jon Anderson of Duran Duran.I was fortunate to work on the Grammy nominated album “American River”by Jonathan Elias that featured Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), and several others. I was young, hungry and was absorbing everything I could, literally learning on the job everyday . I was also playing bass , performing live, and touring the world .
Within the last couple of years, I have decided to stop routine touring and put my focus back on the world of composing for tv and film where I feel most inspired and creative.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
its been a road full of ups downs and all sorts of twist and turns. Yet, despite how some may consider these unexpected changes as “rough”, most of the times I have felt that they have led me to new collaborative experiences and opportunities. ,

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im primarily a composer for several brands, media and social outlets covering several genres. I am just really grateful and proud that I still have the wonderful opportunities to create music + sound everyday and continue to collaborate with so many talented and creative people. Im still learning as I go!! Its constant discovery and Im always striving to improve and expand on new ways to compose and learn from those around me. Ive been so fortunate to be surrounded with people that trust me and let me have fun.
