Exploring Life & Business with Soriya Muon of Nature Macarons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Soriya Muon.

Hi Soriya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Soriya, and I’m originally from France with Vietnamese and Cambodian heritage. I’ve always loved baking and being creative with food, and growing up surrounded by different cultures and flavors has had a big influence on me and what I create today.

I started Nature Macarons in Honolulu in 2022. What began as a passion for making handcrafted French macarons and sharing it on social media, slowly grew into a small business through local markets, events, and custom orders.

In 2024, I moved to Los Angeles and brought Nature Macarons with me. Starting over in a new city was a challenge, but also an exciting opportunity to grow the business in a new direction. Today, I’m based in Redondo Beach and work with both individuals and brands for private or corporate events, celebrations, and catering.

Nature Macarons is very personal to me because it reflects who I am. I use traditional French techniques that connect me to growing up in France, while also bringing in flavors inspired by my Vietnamese and Cambodian heritage and favorite local flavors.

Everything is handmade in small batches, with a focus on quality ingredients, natural flavors and colors, and creating macarons that taste just as good as they look. Seeing Nature Macarons grow from something I simply loved doing into the business it is today has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited to keep growing while staying true to myself and the cultures that inspire me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was moving from Honolulu to Los Angeles in 2024 and essentially having to rebuild the business in a completely new city. I had to find a new community, new customers, new markets, and learn how to navigate all the permits and requirements that come with running a food business in Los Angeles.

As a small business owner, I also do almost everything myself, from baking and developing new flavors to packaging, markets, social media, client communication, and planning events. Learning how to balance the creative side of the business with everything that happens behind the scenes has probably been one of my biggest challenges.

There is also a lot of uncertainty that comes with running a small business. Some months are busier than others, and you are constantly learning what works, what doesn’t, and how to adapt. But I think those challenges have also pushed me to become more confident, more creative, and clearer about what I want Nature Macarons to become.

I’m still learning and growing every day, but seeing people come back, recommend my macarons to others, or choose them for an important celebration makes all of the hard work feel worth it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Nature Macarons is a woman-owned local business specializing in handcrafted French macarons, custom orders, corporate events, brand activations, weddings, and gifting. I’ve had the opportunity to work with international brands across tech, beauty, fashion, and entertainment, including Netflix, Sephora, Hello Molly, and many others.

What makes Nature Macarons unique is the combination of French craftsmanship and flavors inspired by my Asian roots, and a commitment to highlighting local growers. The menu brings together favorites like passion fruit, chocolate, guava strawberry, and salted caramel with more unique flavors like pandan coconut, jasmine milk tea, and lavender lemon.

I offer custom orders for pickup and delivery, as well as full catering with an on-site macaron booth that can be customized to match each event or brand. From macaron colors and flavors to edible logo printing, packaging, and booth branding, I love creating an experience that feels completely unique to each client.

Everything is handcrafted in small batches using high quality ingredients and natural flavors and colors. I’m especially proud that Nature Macarons has become trusted by international brands while keeping the quality, creativity, and personal touch of a local business.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is about building a life around what I love. It means having the freedom to be creative, to grow something I’m truly passionate about, and to bring a little happiness to people through what I make. There’s something really special about knowing that my macarons can be part of someone’s celebration, a gift, or simply a small moment of joy in their day. At the same time, success means having the time to be present with the people I love, my family and friends. And if my journey can inspire others to believe in themselves, follow their passion, and go after their own dreams, that makes it even more meaningful.
