Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Bikusa.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
So my first Professional position within the Music Business was as a Videographer for a magazine based out of Nashville Tennessee called Concrete 615. This was when I first started to get introduced to underground and major Hip Hop artist and management. Fast-forward from there and I end up in Los angels California where I really began to ramp up my pursuit of making a name for myself within the Music business. The two main companies that gave me a full understanding of the music business where South Coast Music Group Led by Arnold Taylor and The Mac Agency Led by Andrew Lieber. This was the period where I honed in on my skills across several departments including Merchandise, Sync, Radio, and overall branding working on major projects for major Artist such as Dababy, Juicewrld, Lil Mosley, Blacc Zacc, Ugly God, Toosii, and many more. Towards the latter half of my years in California I started to work with a company by the name of Ethika. This was where I aided in the creation of what is now known as Ethika Music. I served as a Music supervisor curating there roster of talent. Fast-forward to today and you have Motion Talent group which is comprised of various artist that I have worked with in the past and new artist that are on the rise. Our mission is to create an environment where Talent can learn and grow.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey in the entertainment industry has had several High’s and Low’s with many challenges along the way. I am still currently trying to forge my path within the industry so my work is not done. I think one of the biggest challenges that I have had is learning to deal with perspective. From the outside looking in I may look like an accomplished executive with many opportunities on the horizon. From the inside looking out I still have a long road ahead of me and I feel my biggest struggles are yet to come.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently I serve as a consultant within the music business while simultaneously running a talent agency comprised of several different acts.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Los Angeles has lots of opportunities and had been very helpful in terms of networking. My Head A&R Andre Young has been based in Los Angeles for the past 13 years as well and we have been able to slowly put our agency together Brick by Brick.
