Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaili Thorne.
Hi Kaili, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Rollercoaster.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Struggles include alcoholism, addiction, sobriety, lots of ups and downs in filmmaking. Lots of relationships that didn’t work out. I wonder if there is a grandeur meaning for me in this life. Maybe not to find love and a partner but to give love and be loved by people that get my art and me as a person. Struggling with labels and freedom and using my voice. Finding my voice. Struggles spiritually and with God. Struggling with narcissistic people and egoists. Fighting for what I believe in. Being told I’m wrong all the time. Questing myself and fighting the doubts in my brains struggling with my unconditional love for this world and the universe but hatred for corruption and injustice in humanity. Happiness and being bi polar manic depressive has been a struggle. But pain has been a big part of creating art. Watching kids get bullied really triggers me and makes me sad. Loves impermanence has been a major struggle. Differentiating dreams from reality has been really hard. I struggle with eczema.
I’ve always made questionable decisions and taking detours in life. But I’ve always been able to trust myself and believe in God. Dogs help and I’ve always had an animal by my side. The road has only been smooth because I don’t stay around negative people. I’ve been searching for humor and laughter. Comedy stand up has been a way for me to speak truth and heal. Writing scripts has been an escape and making movies. Public speaking and performing in front of people has helped replace drugs and alcohol because of the adrenaline it gives me. Sobriety has helped clear the path, it gives me a sense of direction. My dreams and goals have been a constant in my life and haven’t changed since I was a kid. They’ve only gotten bigger. I’ve been presented with opportunities that would’ve given me free rides and smooth roads had I have sold out or settled and not stayed true to myself. If I have to die before I get everything I want out of this life, so be it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I don’t know what I’m known for honestly. Probably my social media and platforms. I get random recognition from people when I go out. I have imposter syndrome. I’m really good at producing, directing, writing, painting, fashion. Being an artist and creative is who you are as a person. How you perceive the world is art. How you communicate is art. I’ve been on tv, I’ve been in movies, I’ve sold scripts, I’ve walked in fashion shows, I’ve been photographed over 100 times. Maybe I’m just known for being me.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My dog!!! He is my best friend and the reason for me to be grounded and anchored in one place. He comes with me everywhere. I want to give him the best quality of life possible. His name is Scheff and he healed my broken heart. I love throwing the ball with him. I also love baking him treats. Making movies makes me happy, being on set bringing my stories to life. People reading my scripts and hearing the joy in their voice when they tell me their thoughts. I love when people read my work and hearing them laugh. Working with actors. Collaborating on projects. Working with friends. I love spending time with my girlfriends. We always laugh so hard together. I also love listening to music and getting lost in my daydreams.
