Rising Stars: Meet Mely Varela of Los Angeles / OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mely Varela.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! I’m Mely. I’m an argentinean artist. I moved to the US 10y ago as a pro dancer. I’ve worked in over 20 countries as a travel correspondent and dancer, and loved it! 3y ago I moved to LA to pursue my deep purpose of writing. I wrote a novel, recently picked up by a publishing house -very excited about it; and got involved in the film industry. I’ve written 3 produced shorts and work in 3 languages as a screenwriter, copywriter and novelist. I also cover events, specializing in sparking curiosity and bringing a different pov highlighting the human aspect of the industry! I love sharing with others things that I love and sparking their curiosity to go out and experience for themselves.
I thrive in collaborative, artistic environments and I’m looking forward to talking more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth is not amongst the first 50 words I’d choose. As everyone, I’ve faced my struggles along the way -specially leading an artistic lifestyle.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
– WRITER (novelist, screenwriter, copywriter)
– EVENT CORRESPONDENT (covering events, unique places and immersive experiences)
– DOODLER (visual artist, @ladydoodleofficial)
– (mostly) RETIRED DANCER

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I read a lot of growth material. Spirituality, growth books, mindset and belief challenges, etc.
