Daily Inspiration: Meet Michael Webb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Webb.

Hi Michael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Theres a few paths through my story – the shortest version, is that i’ve been playing guitar and engaging in many different creative pursuits for about 25 years. Its a lot of stories between then and now, losing loved ones, surviving trauma, traveling, and many different aspects of networking.

The one constant, is that my moniker/pseudonym/pen name/band name/whatever you’d label it, has always been DuctTapedGoat. So all my livestream broadcasts online, all my published music, its pretty discoverable.

Professionally, that never really paid any bills. So, with my personal business, Digital Sales and Service, I provide computer repair, video editing, and tech consultation services.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggles professionally haven’t been too bad, L.A. is just a tough city, it is not as easy as networking to find work such as in NYC where i couldn’t go from one side of Manhattan to the other without tripping and falling into work! Los Angeles, it takes a lot more effort. As a creative and a tech who is good at what i do, clients have often lowballed me, tried to refuse honoring the rates, or abused my good nature to get free consultation in the guise of larger projects. But, L.A. is where i’m at.

Of personal struggles, losing my father when i was in Junior High was probably the worst. Losing my ex after covid, that was absolutely tough as well. I’m pretty sure i checked out for a few years surrounding each of their deaths.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Duct Taped Goat, artist/creative.
Digital Sales and Service, professional tech.

Any big plans?
Where i am today is pretty much where i plan to be, just with a larger network! I’m very happy with my clients and my friends and the progress i’ve made networking.
