Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Parto.
Hi Maggie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Let’s just say some how being an immigrant and being thrown in ESL classes, changing my name and having a family that wanted me to be a Doctor, turned upside down and at the end I did what my heart was making me. Being an Actor is in my blood! Producing came out of a must! Non existing opportunities and honestly the challenges of producing is getting the capital to create!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I recently changed my whole look! I want to do action films with likes of Tom Cruise! Dream big or don’t dream at all, is what I always say! To me repeating the same roles don’t challenge me, i need change and i want to achieve my goals— create as well as act. Its not easy to get that one opportunity and you think you’re perfect for the role or read that script and imagine yourself in it, only to find out someone else got it or had the offer! The only thing you can do is to be ready as an actor, always train and get better and create so when the right opportunity comes, you give them the best version of you! Always do things to add to your tool box! Learn new things, travel, meet new people, learn tjeir life story— you never know how much it will help you in your craft!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I loved working with Queen Latifah! She was humble, professional and kind! Working on different TV shows, I learned this… it moves fast, you better be ready to go! So working on all of you, everything from mental, physical health will help you on set and in life! Art is life so live the best version of you! Never ever give up!!! It’s tough and may look easy for some people but remember your journey is all yours! Embrace it and the right opportunity is around the corner!
