Rising Stars: Meet Kay L

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay L.

Hi Kay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m an artist from Canada and a member of the Grammy recording academy. I’ve been writing music ever since a was a child. I have toured and performed with artists like Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Akon, Nas, Nelly, Ice Cube, Ludacris, Pitbull, T Pain, Mario, Wix Khalifa, Flo Rida and many more. I was also the leader of BLM in Calgary Canada and have organized some of the biggest protests in Canadian history.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think any road to success is smooth unless you a trust fund baby. There so many ups and downs, physically, mentally, Emotionally, psychologically etc. but I feel each moment of struggle and each obstacle that gets put in our path only build character and builds strength,

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m known for being an artist and an activist. What I’m most proud of being able to say that people in the community genuinely come to me and voice their concerns and problems they may be having simply because they believe that I’m the person that can create change for them. That makes me proud, knowing that the people can put that much faith and that much trust in me. What sets me apart from everyone else is my spirit. I believe that no matter what happens I can fall back on the strength of my spirit to guide me and navigate me through any weather. Rain or shine.

My new single ROTATE has gone viral all over the world especially in Brazil, Kenya and India.
