Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Lee.
Hi Rachel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been an entrepreneur. My background is in online marketing and public relations, and I founded GetFeatured.com, a press release writing and distribution company that helps businesses gain media exposure.
But at 35, I decided to pursue a completely different passion and become a DJ!
Music, dancing, and bringing people together have always been huge parts of my life. What started as learning a new skill quickly turned into a second career. I began DJing parties and events around Los Angeles, developing my sound and building my brand as DJ Rachel Lee.
Now at 36, I’m spending more time in New York City and around the world, expanding my network, exploring different music scenes, and producing my own music events. I’m also working on my own music production and releasing EDM tracks and remixes.
The best part is that my entrepreneurial background gives me the freedom to create my own opportunities, travel, meet incredible people, and build a career around something I genuinely love. I believe life is too short to follow just one path, and sometimes the most exciting chapters begin when you decide to reinvent yourself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge has been starting over as a beginner after spending years building expertise in another industry. Learning to DJ, developing my sound, and establishing myself in a competitive music scene takes time, patience, and a lot of practice.
There’s also the challenge of balancing multiple business ventures while traveling, networking, and constantly learning new skills.
But being an entrepreneur has taught me that opportunities don’t always just fall in to your lap. Oftentimes you have to create them yourself. Whether that means introducing myself to DJs and promoters, showing up in a new city, or putting myself in unfamiliar situations, I’ve learned that so much of success comes from simply taking initiative.
I also don’t believe there’s an expiration date on pursuing your dreams. Starting a new career in a new industry at 35 might seem unconventional, but I’d rather be a beginner at something I love than wonder what could have happened if I never tried.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a DJ and entrepreneur from Los Angeles with a passion for music, entrepreneurship, and bringing people together.
As DJ Rachel Lee, I love to spin tech house and also perform open-format sets for private parties, nightlife venues, and special events. I love creating an atmosphere where people can let loose, dance, and have an amazing time.
Alongside DJing, I run GetFeatured.com, helping entrepreneurs and businesses tell their stories and gain media exposure. My background in marketing, branding, and PR gives me a unique advantage when it comes to building my own career as an artist.
I’m especially proud of creating two careers that allow me to be independent, creative, and location-flexible. I love being able to travel, meet new people, expand my network, and turn those connections into friendships, collaborations, and opportunities.
I’m also a sober DJ, and I love showing people that you don’t need alcohol or substances to enjoy a party. Great music, dancing, and good company are more than enough!
I currently working on producing original EDM tracks, collaborating with other artists, and expanding my DJ career internationally.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
My biggest philosophy is that life should be fun, adventurous, and lived on your own terms.
I don’t believe you have to follow a traditional timeline or stick with one career or identity forever. You can reinvent yourself at 35, 45, or 65. You’re allowed to change your mind, explore new passions, and create a life that excites you.
I love traveling, meeting people from different backgrounds, building communities, dancing, and saying yes to new experiences. My best opportunities and friendships have come from simply putting myself out there.
To me, success isn’t just about money or professional accomplishments. It’s about freedom: having control over your time, doing work you enjoy, surrounding yourself with interesting people, and having the flexibility to explore the world.
Life is too short to spend it waiting for the perfect moment. Create your own opportunities, have fun along the way, and never stop evolving!
