Community Highlights: Meet Susan Gameros of Embrace Holistic Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Gameros.

Hi Susan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a mental health therapist for about 14 years now. Throughout the years I started to recognize that mental health is only one piece of our puzzle, and that complementary healing modalities made a huge difference in client progress. I became curious about different modalities.

I started with mindfulness and guided meditation and that led me to the world of sound and energy healing. During a period of time when I felt overwhelmed and depressed, I began exploring herbalism and Reiki. This exploration opened the doors to me, eventually becoming a wellness practitioner.

It wasn’t something that I planned to do; it just happened. I was so excited to learn about herbs that I began making different tea blends, elderberry syrup, and herb-infused oils. It started with sharing that with friends and family and slowly progressed to offering reiki sessions. One day I offered a reiki session to a friend recovering from a medical condition. She requested another session and insisted on paying. Shortly afterwards my siblings encouraged me to open an Instagram account to offer my services and that is how Embrace Holistic Healing was born.

I absolutely love what I do. I never imagined that exploring my own spirituality and reconnecting to holistic practices would lead me here. I hold several certifications including reiki, sound healing, womb healing, and angelic healing. I continue taking herbalism and curanderismo courses as well. I have a passion for learning about different ways to heal. I am grateful for my background in mental health which allows me to have an empathetic and trauma informed approach in my wellness spaces.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a journey in itself. I have and continue to struggle with certain areas of running the business. Doing something that I had never done was anxiety provoking at times. There have been times where I felt discouraged and ready to throw in the towel. It can be easy to judge or compare yourself to others that are further along their journey. I have learned to stay in my lane and quiet my inner critic.

Aside from struggling with setting unrealistic expectations for myself, I have learned to be flexible with my vision and ideas. Not every idea works out the way I hope, and that is okay. I remind myself that it’s okay to pivot and recreate things when necessary. It isn’t always easy to put myself out there and not be worried about how others will perceive me. I have been learning to follow my intuition and stay true to myself. There are so many ways to practice these modalities and hold sessions that it can be easy to question if I am doing it “the right way.” Staying aligned with who I am, and my intentions have been my compass.

Another thing that is challenging is learning how to run the business side of things. It has been a learning curve to figure out how to promote my services, set pricing, and create processes for myself. I’ve had to hold myself accountable when it comes to the things I dislike doing.

Building something new always comes with challenges. I am still building my brand and slowly figuring out what works for me and my business.

We’ve been impressed with Embrace Holistic Healing , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I created Embrace Holistic Healing with the intention to help others connect with themselves and offer gentle experiences to help them heal. I facilitate Reiki, angelic energy, sound, and womb healing sessions. Every session is an invitation to promote relaxation, enhance the body’s own ability to heal, and release emotional stress. Each session is a unique experience for the individual. Sometimes they are craving deep relaxation and a moment of peace and quiet, other times they are connecting with their inner child, or release heavy emotions such as shame and guilt. My goal is to assist my clients in releasing the day-to-day stress and provide a safe space to process or release whatever they are ready for.

One of my newest services is womb healing. It’s such a powerful experience to connect with our womb space and explore what it carries. Our womb is sacred, it is a portal of creation, it connects us to our lineage and therefore sometimes carries stories that are not ours to carry. We can experience emotions, fears, and limitations that were passed down to us. It is beautiful to connect with the womb, to be curious about this sacred space, to begin to listen to how it communicates, and release what is no longer serving us.

I am also known for creating supportive products with different herbs. Many of my in-person events are paired with a supportive herbal product. I may feel called to create an herbal tea, an ointment, a foot soak, or an herb-infused oil depending on the event and energy I am feeling for it. I really enjoy hosting groups where we can heal in community. I typically hold sound baths where I also offer energy healing to the group. There is something powerful about healing together and sharing the experience. I strive to build a supportive community not just for myself but for others to find comfort and understanding. I believe having community and strong social support are important to help us thrive. Sharing similar experiences can be validating and a reminder that we are not alone.

You don’t need to have any experience or have specific spiritual beliefs to benefit from these services. They are beginner friendly and gentle. Anyone can benefit from them as long as they are open to receiving. One of my goals is to help people connect with their intuition, to feel connected with their body and their spirit, and to leave feeling empowered. The world can be chaotic and it’s easy to lose sight of ourselves and our own needs. Having a space to relax and be still for a minute can remind people to come back to themselves and reconnect with versions of them that they thought were lost. Sometimes during the experience, they receive a reminder of an activity they enjoyed and forgot about, or a practice they stopped engaging in that was helpful for managing their stress. These sessions can be a redirection to engage with yourself in a different way, to care for yourself like you need, and to set appropriate boundaries in life.

What matters most to you? Why?
This is a hard question because I feel like so many things matter to me! One thing that is very important for me is that people that interact with me feel seen and heard. Providing a safe and supportive environment is always my priority. The outside world can be so stressful and unpredictable that if I can create a small pocket of time where someone can put their guard down and relax, I will. I want people to feel understood and that I can empathize with them regardless of their circumstances. I want my clients to be comfortable embracing all parts of themselves, even the parts that may feel unlovable or undesirable.

Another thing I find really important is creating joy. I like to encourage others to invite joy into their lives without completely bypassing their experiences and emotions. Happiness and grief can coexist, and it’s okay to honor both. I bring humor into my work whenever possible because I believe laughter is also a good medicine for the soul. I romanticize small things in my life. My social media frequently has pictures or videos of flowers blooming in my garden, the birds chirping, me dancing in the rain, or simply having my favorite cup of tea. I share these small details in hopes that others might be inspired to see the whimsy in their life too. Healing can be fun and lighthearted.
