Today we’d like to introduce you to Randie.
Hi Randie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started at a young age, playing guitar and spending countless hours immersed in music. Growing up, I was heavily influenced by hardcore and heavy metal bands. I always had a strong drive to create, and eventually, I reached a point where I wanted complete creative control over my sound.
Around that time, my friends and I started going to raves in and around Los Angeles. It all began at Together As One by Insomniac in 2011. That experience opened the door to electronic music and completely changed my perspective on what music could be. After graduating high school, I followed that passion and studied audio engineering at the Los Angeles Recording School in Hollywood, where I earned a degree in Recording Arts and Sciences.
I began producing under the alias ABSNTMNDED, developing my sound and gradually gaining support from established artists who started playing my tracks. Seeing my music reach those stages was a turning point. It showed me that I could create something that connected with people.
I never forgot what it was like to be an upcoming artist trying to get heard, putting in the work without knowing if anyone would pay attention. I wanted to build a platform for artists in that same position—artists with something real to offer who just needed an opportunity.
That vision eventually became FLESH AND HAMMERS.
The label grew through collaboration with driven artists who shared the same hunger to push their sound forward. From the beginning, our focus was on the music itself and the quality of every release. We wanted to establish a distinct identity, release records that stood on their own, and create a platform that represented the harder side of electronic music.
Over time, the catalog grew, the audience expanded, and the releases began speaking for themselves. It wasn’t an overnight success, and it was never about the money. It was about building something real, one release at a time, through consistency, dedication, and a clear vision.
Today, my goal is to continue pushing my own sound while building FLESH AND HAMMERS into a respected name in hard techno and industrial techno. I want the label to stand for quality and give talented artists a platform to make their mark. For me, this has always been about more than releasing tracks. It’s about building a legacy through the music and the people behind it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, definitely not. Running an independent label takes a lot of time, money, and sacrifice, and I personally invest all three into keeping FLESH AND HAMMERS alive. With music sales being what they are today, it’s not easy to keep the label going, but for me, it’s about more than profit. It’s about dedication, believing in the music, and building something meaningful for the artists involved. The rewards aren’t always financial, but the commitment to the vision never changes.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work revolves around producing hard and industrial techno as ABSNTMNDED and running FLESH AND HAMMERS, an independent label dedicated to pushing the harder side of electronic music. I focus on creating aggressive, high-energy sounds influenced by my background in hardcore and heavy metal, bringing that intensity into electronic music while continuing to develop my own identity as an artist.
Beyond my own productions, I handle the creative direction and day-to-day work behind the label, from selecting music and working with artists to managing releases and building the label’s identity. I’m passionate about discovering artists with something unique to offer and giving them a platform to reach a wider audience.
What I’m most proud of is building FLESH AND HAMMERS from the ground up and watching it grow through the music and the people involved. I want every release to have a purpose, represent the label’s identity, and contribute to something that lasts.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely. No one builds something like this entirely on their own. Throughout my journey, my friends, fellow artists, and the people who supported my music have all played an important role. From the early days of discovering electronic music together to the artists who believed in my productions and played my tracks, those experiences helped shape the path I’m on today.
I also give credit to the artists who have worked with FLESH AND HAMMERS and helped the label grow. Their trust, creativity, and dedication have been a huge part of building the label’s identity. Every release is a collaborative effort, and the people who contribute to that process deserve recognition.
I’m especially grateful to the DJs and supporters who share our music, play our tracks, and help introduce the label to new audiences. Independent labels rely heavily on that kind of support.
Ultimately, everyone who has contributed their time, talent, or belief in what we’re building has played a role in our progress. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I see FLESH AND HAMMERS as something built through a shared passion for the music and a commitment to pushing the scene forward.
