Exploring Life & Business with Hannah Stouffer of H+ Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Stouffer.

Hi Hannah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s been a lifelong journey. I was born a creative and have spent the majority of my experience as a visual artist. I’ve had extensive experience in all aspects of both commercial and fine art, as an exhibiting artist, curator and art writer.

In 2015, I brought my creative vision and expertise to developing a new type of creative studio, H+ Creative. Our initial launch was a curated exhibition of visual artists in South Beach Miami, during Art Basel. As founder and Director, I wanted to create experiences centered around client connectivity through the future of visual media.

My history in commercial illustration and fine art guided both the direction and talent of H+ Creative, as I built a studio with my curatorial hand in all parts of the process. As the agency developed, we grew into a full service visual production studio, representing artists with strong, vibrant aesthetic, and known for this bold, contemporary vision.

H+ Creative is a woman owned and operated boutique creative studio that represents a tight-knit roster of top-tier, diverse international artists. Working directly with clients and collaborators, we specialize in everything from digital to traditional illustration, motion, 2D, 3D and everything in between.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve found my entire experience to be a form of adaptation. I wouldn’t call it struggling, but adapting to the constant transitions of the creative industry, technology and the state of the world has become the norm. I’ve always loved a good challenge, and I think that facing those moments builds strength and also expands our capabilities.

None of it is easy, but the passion behind loving what you do can trick you into liking the pain.

I think anyone that is existing in the world, especially in the creative industry, since 2020 has found it to be one giant struggle. We have all had to adapt in MASSIVE ways. Remaining fluid and flexible, even experimental and learning how to adapt to these transitions can turn those challenges into something positive. Not everybody loves a blind challenge, a struggle or the known risks of being an artist, but I guess I’m a bit of a creative masochist.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
If you know me, you know H+ Creative- a Los Angeles based artist representation firm and boutique creative studio specializing in dynamic, vibrantly executed imagery for our clients worldwide.

We are the only creative agency in the world.

We are proud to be a woman owned and operated with a curated roster of diverse, international visual artists. specializing in everything from digital to traditional illustration, 2D and 3D motion graphics, animation, typography, mixed reality and more.

I’m thrilled to announce the opening of High Heat studio, under H+ Creative, with a defined purpose of providing support and education for visual artists when it comes to client work. I want to bring all of this lived experience to something accessible for creatives rather than gatekeep it. The industry does not need to be a mystery. Let’s get this bread.

What were you like growing up?
My upbringing was *special.

I was raised in the high mountains of Colorado with a wildlife documentarian and filmmaker as a father, things were always pretty wild. There were animals everywhere, and it wasn’t until later in my life that I realized that the amount of feral freedom that we had and that I was taught wasn’t typical.

As a kid I was always a creative, I was always in trouble. Somehow it turned out ok.

I pushed rules, limits and had high expectations for what I wanted, but I was also told that I could do anything that I put my passion into, and that was always art. I think its rare not to feel pressured into a certain career, and I’m very fortunate that my crazy drive for being an artist was celebrated and not hindered.
