Daily Inspiration: Meet Bill Concannon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill Concannon.

Hi Bill, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2000 I was assigned the Star Wars account for Hasbro Games. The first project was the board game Star Wars Episode I, The Queen’s Gambit an amazing game designed by Craig Van Ness. Packaging design and the entertainment space was new to me and I loved it instantly.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At times you can feel an account, a project or relationship is “do or die” for your career. This tension can create the struggles. The good news is that means it’s within my control to see things differently and mitigate those moments. Anytime you are in control of your destiny I’d say you have it pretty well.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In 2019 I created Concannon Art in LA to work closer with the movie studios. My background is branding, packaging and licensing art designs for films with consumer products attached. While I worked for Hasbro I was assigned to Lucasfilm Licensing and the Star Wars game lines. As a designer I was able to re-design the Transformers action figure line logo and packaging trade dress. Today our studio just finished working with Netflix and Mattel on their K-POP Demon Hunters and Masters of the Universe movie packaging lines.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There is an approach to packaging and creating licensed art that we stay pretty consistent with. Everything is about making the story visible. Our designs are clean and bold and art directors that share that approach see it in our portfolio. I make sure our work is available for review on our website concannonart.com and i’m always available to discuss new projects.
