Check Out Tank Jones’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tank Jones.

Hi Tank , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m an Actor that also does Social Media Content on Fatherhood.. I used to do church plays and school plays as a middle schooler. Transitioned into film and television when I moved out to LA in the early 2000s and. I have over 65 film and TV credits to date. I’ve played everything from a 3-Star General to an escaped slave. When I became a father, it changed everything for me. I love being a dad and I spend a lot of time with my children. My daughters used to do commercials and photo shoots with me. My youngest son and I have worked on 11 film and TV projects together. My daughters are the ones that recommended that I begin producing Social Media Content for Fathers. I speak on my experiences and offer advice to dads on how to listen to and be more present in their children’s lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There were times when I was not booking anything at all and that put a lot of pressure on me and my family financially. It also made me question whether or not this was the right decision for me to make, and if I was good enough to actually be a consistent working Actor. And as a father, you make a lot of mistakes. I started out as more as an authoritarian. I was much harder on my daughters than I needed to be. Being a believer, i and follower of Christ actually softened my heart to be able to listen to my children and give them a voice instead of“giving them a voice.“ We have a wonderful relationship as a result.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an actor. I have been a SAG actor since the late 90s as I said, I played everything from a three star general to an escape slave. I like to immerse myself and to the skin of the characters that I play. I am currently most known for my work on breaking bad and Dark Winds although I have a film that I did in Brazil called Dark Horse that will be coming out in the next couple of months that is gardening a lot of international attention. I am proud of the work that I have done with my children and my son actually. The work I did on my latest movie. Dark Horse is some of my best though as far as what sets me apart from others, I think everyone in this business is persistent. I would say that about myself as well.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have had many supporters and mentors. First and foremost my faith in Christ has sustained me in times where I really wanted to give up or I felt lost and that maybe I had wasted my life doing something that wasn’t going to be fruitful long-term for me and for my family. My wife Nicole is my biggest cheerleader and I’m very thankful for that. We’ve had a lot of trials and tribulations along the way, but she has stuck with me through the good, the bad, the ups and the downs. My mother has always been a huge supporter and encourager. Pastor Scot Anderson and his father Dr. Tom Anderson have both been very supportive over the years. My first business mentor, Rolland Lawson has been instrumental in helping me in many ways to persevere even when things don’t look the greatest and has really been one of my biggest cheerleaders outside of my family. And of course, my children Ahlayla, Milayna and Raejon all believe in me to the fullest and let me know that they are behind me 100% and whatever I do and I do the same for them.
