Check Out Julie Ban’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Ban.

Hi Julie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My love for makeup started around middle school. I grew up with a lot of girl cousins for me to practice on. I attended MUD in Burbank, CA and worked at MAC for 2 years. After moving on from MAC, I was doing a lot of wedding makeup and decided to change my environment while still surrounded by the beauty industry.
I started working at The Hive doing makeup and front desk. It was there where I developed my lipstick brand, Confetti. I tried to find an all-natural lipstick line to sell at the salon, but had no luck so I decided to make my own. I started selling them at local shops around LA until Covid. After that, my focus centered around my children and didn’t have time to pursue my lipstick company.
While continuing my work in makeup, I became drawn to lash extensions because I saw an opportunity to provide a subtle yet transformative experience for my clients- enhancing their natural beauty in a way that made them feel effortlessly beautiful. I currently rent a space out of the Hive to run my business, Confetti- now a lash and brow brand.
It brings me so much joy to see my clients’ reactions after enhancing their natural beauty and helping them feel their best.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I went through some challenges losing clients due to Covid and juggling family/work life. Also having to put plans on pause and making difficult decisions about my direction at the time created some setbacks in my career. I will say a lot of personal growth came out of the struggles along the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a makeup artist who has a lash and brow business. I specialize in lash extensions and lash lifts. I’m known for my natural style of makeup and lashes. My style is enhancing what you already have and highlighting your natural beauty.
I think what sets me apart from others is my many years of experience working with faces. I have a deep understanding of facial structure and features, which allows me to create results that enhance my client’s natural beauty.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is to embrace setbacks when taking risks and be proud of myself for having the courage to try.
