Meet J-Nu of Pacoima

Today we’d like to introduce you to J-Nu.

Hi J-Nu, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From the dungeons of rap was born a low fidelity entity that only cried in white noise and would one day hum in a low peaceful frequency. Pacoima is a historical black neighborhood in the SFV, and it was this environment that shaped the sound maker into a warrior for the culture.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I lost many family members due to gun violence and mental health issues. I never saw tomorrow as something that was promised to me. Right now in the world we are universally struggling together and I am in no way shielded from that reality. I almost feel like the act of making art in this world is the band continuing the play as the ship sinks after striking the iceberg. I never saw another choice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I make music, put on live experiences, and put together film projects. I bring a dark comedy vibe to everything I create, having a lot of fun all while not shying away from morbid topics and cruel realities.

Any big plans?
Take each day as it comes and make sure every project is better than the last. I’m forever a student so I have a lot to learn.
