Meet Jessica Gonzalez of Glamour Bites Cart Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Gonzalez.

Jessica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Jessica Isabel, a Mexican-American mother of six and the founder of Glamour Bites Cart Co. I grew up in Commerce, California, watching my parents work hard to build a life for our family. Their example stayed with me, especially when I became a single mom of six kids and had to figure out what the next chapter of my own life would look like.

For years, I worked in higher education, helping students see possibilities for themselves and take steps toward their goals. I loved encouraging other people, but I also had a dream I couldn’t shake: building something of my own. After my divorce, I tried different things, worked my nine-to-five, and slowly began building a mobile snack cart business on the side.

Glamour Bites started as a little side hustle. I wanted to create more than a table of treats; I wanted guests to have an experience they would remember. I brought my love of celebrations, my Mexican culture, and a little glam into every cart. I learned as I went, showing up for events, figuring out pricing and logistics, and sharing the behind-the-scenes reality of building a business while raising six kids.

There came a point when I realized this was no longer just something I did on weekends. It had grown into my main source of income and a real business that my family and my team could be proud of. That realization was exciting, but also humbling. Growth meant learning to lead, trust other people, and take myself seriously as a business owner.

Today, Glamour Bites serves private celebrations, weddings, and corporate events with a growing menu of mobile cart experiences. I also create guides and share what I’ve learned with women who want to start or grow a cart business of their own. I’m still learning and growing, but I’m grateful I took a chance on myself. My hope is that my story reminds another woman that she can begin with what she has, keep going through the trial and error, and build a life that once felt out of reach.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. After my divorce, I was raising six children while working in higher education and trying to figure out what I wanted to build for myself. I have also suffered from anxiety that started to really flare up five years ago in the middle of my divorce, and it’s always a challenge, but I’ve learned to manage it with my faith, keeping busy, but I’m a big advocate for mental health matters. It’s important to take care of yourself. Not only as a mother, but as a woman.
I tried different ideas before starting Glamour Bites, and there were times when I questioned whether I could really turn a little weekend side hustle into a business.

In the beginning, I did so much myself: answering inquiries, shopping, prepping food, loading the car, serving guests, cleaning up, and then coming home to be Mom. As bookings grew, I had to learn things I had never been taught, from pricing my work properly to managing multiple events and trusting a team. There have been mistakes, long nights, unexpected costs, and moments when I felt overwhelmed. Growing the business didn’t make those challenges disappear; it gave me a reason to keep learning through them.

One of my biggest challenges was learning to believe that I belonged in the room as a business owner. I had spent years encouraging other people to pursue their goals, but betting on myself took a different kind of courage. My faith, my children, and the work ethic my parents modeled have kept me going. I’m proud of how far Glamour Bites has come, and I’m honest about the fact that I’m still figuring things out as I grow.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Glamour Bites Cart Co.?
Glamour Bites Cart Co. creates mobile food and dessert cart experiences for weddings, birthdays, quinceañeras, private parties, and corporate events. We bring the cart, the food, the setup, and the people to serve it, so our clients can enjoy their event alongside their guests.

We’re known for our mini pancakes, churros with ice cream, paletas, fruit with Tajín, esquites, charcuterie, and other fun offerings. I love creating a menu that feels right for the occasion. Some clients want a colorful treat that reminds them of home; others want a polished dessert experience that fits their wedding or company celebration. We can personalize the cart and menu to make it feel like part of their event.

My Mexican heritage is woven into the brand, from some of the flavors we serve to the warmth we bring to each celebration. Our motto is, “It’s more than bites, it’s an experience.” To me, that means paying attention to how guests feel when they walk up to the cart, choose their toppings, and share that moment with someone.

What I’m most proud of is that I built Glamour Bites without a storefront, and it has grown from a small side hustle into a business that supports my family and creates work for my team. I now share what I’ve learned through guides for women who want to start or grow a mobile cart business of their own. Whether someone books us for an event or learns from our journey, I want them to leave feeling that something special is possible.

What does success mean to you?
To me, success is something that you feel deep in down in your heart After knowing you hit rock bottom, but you know you had a bigger WHY and you weren’t gonna let your kids down..

You went against all odds and continued pushing even on days that brought you to your knees. When you can look up with your head hell high and look at what you’ve built from the ground up and smile from contentment that is success.
