Meet Sunny Tripathy of Los Angeles / OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunny Tripathy.

Hi Sunny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m still figuring it out, and I’ve learned to love that.

I grew up thinking I would be a neurologist (worked at a bio-lab at UC Berkeley), briefly– thought I would be a pilot (logged quite a few hours on flight simulators and took lessons in a handful of Cessnas), then was encouraged to act (discovered I was okay, not great), and eventually found my spirit and true passion in writing, directing, and entrepreneurship.

I realized I was good at a handful of things, but truly great, at just a few. And so I doubled down.

Today I’ve worked professionally as a screenwriter for almost every major studio with script deals at Sony, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Dreamworks, and more. I’ve directed a handful of shorts that are making their way through the festival circuits and getting considered to explore as features. And I continue to find stories that compel me, ideally exploring worlds often ignored. You can find more on that at www.sunnytripathy.com

As an entrepreneur I am the lesser half to my superhuman wife Sonia Sandha and her co-founder with her better for you butter brand Mamas. She’s the greatest joy in my life and together we’ve bootstrapped something rather special. We’re ambitious with the plans but are enjoying the journey, highs and lows as they come. Info on that at www.mamas.co

Sometimes I feel work is just work. But what I am most proud of is the unseen work that we have continued to do over the years. Typically never seen on Instagram, or anywhere for that matter, but all the lives we have touched in different countries. This includes work in Cambodia, volunteer work in regenerative agriculture, and our mission to help save our soil. You can read more about it at: www.bigsoil.org.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Loved the expression that tough seas make tough sailors. It rings true and while I have so much more to learn and do and achieve, I feel confident in my ability to navigate tough seas.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
One of the things I’m most proud of and grateful for is our community. A deep network, a strong web of teachers and mentors, who continue to show my wife and I the path.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?

And if you want to help us regenerate this planet:

Thanks so much!
