Today we’d like to introduce you to JR DA HUSSLA.
Hi JR DA , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started NSWS (No Success Without Struggle) from a real place—life experience. Before it was a clothing brand, it was just a mindset I had to live by. I’ve faced a lot of ups and downs, and at one point I realized every level I was trying to reach came with some type of struggle attached to it. Instead of running from that, I embraced it.
I didn’t come from a perfect setup or have everything handed to me. I had to learn, fail, adjust, and keep pushing even when things didn’t look like they were going anywhere. That’s where the name NSWS came from—it’s a reminder that struggle isn’t a setback, it’s part of the process.
I officially turned it into a brand because I wanted something that represented more than just clothing. I wanted something that spoke for the people who are grinding in silence, dealing with pressure, and still showing up every day trying to make something happen.
Today, NSWS is more than a brand to me—it’s a message. It stands for everyone who’s still in their struggle but refuses to quit. I’m still building, still learning, and still growing, but everything I do is rooted in that same foundation: No Success Without Struggle.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building NSWS (No Success Without Struggle) came with a lot of real-life challenges that tested me more than anything else.
One of the biggest struggles was starting with limited resources. I had the vision and the motivation, but not always the funds, connections, or support to move as fast as I wanted. That meant I had to learn everything on my own—branding, marketing, designing, even how to properly build a business from the ground up.
There were also moments of doubt, where things weren’t selling the way I expected or growth felt really slow. That can mess with your mindset if you let it. On top of that, balancing life, responsibilities, and trying to build something from nothing wasn’t easy either.
But every setback taught me something. Every slow season forced me to get better, more creative, and more consistent. Looking back, those struggles are actually what shaped the brand and shaped me as an entrepreneur.
So no, it wasn’t smooth—but it was necessary. That’s really what NSWS stands for.
As you know, we’re big fans of NSWS Clothing . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
NSWS (No Success Without Struggle) is a clothing brand built on mindset, resilience, and real-life experience. At its core, it’s more than apparel—it’s a message for people who are actively in their grind, their growth, and their struggle, but still pushing forward anyway.
We specialize in streetwear that carries meaning. Every design is created to reflect perseverance, hunger, and elevation. It’s not just about looking good—it’s about wearing something that represents what you’ve survived and what you’re still building through.
What sets NSWS apart is the foundation it was built on. This isn’t a trend-driven brand—it’s rooted in real experience and authenticity. Every piece connects back to a message: success doesn’t come without struggle, and that struggle is what builds character. That’s something our community can actually relate to, not just see on a shirt.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the impact and connection. Seeing people wear NSWS and feel represented by it means everything. It’s bigger than sales—it’s about people feeling seen in their journey, whether they’re just starting out or already in the middle of building something for themselves.
What I want readers to know is that NSWS is for the grinders, the late-night thinkers, the people betting on themselves when nobody else is. We’re still growing, still expanding, and still building—but everything we do stays true to one message: No Success Without Struggle.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always more of a observant and self-driven type of person. I wasn’t necessarily the loudest in the room, but I paid attention to everything going on around me. I think that helped shape how I move now as an adult and as a business owner.
Personality-wise, I was pretty determined even early on. Once I got interested in something, I would lock in and try to figure it out on my own. I didn’t like relying too much on others—I liked learning things hands-on, even if it meant making mistakes along the way.
Interest-wise, I was always drawn to creativity and expression. Whether it was through clothes, music, or just how people carried themselves, I was always paying attention to style and identity. I didn’t know it at the time, but that early interest in expression definitely played a role in me building a clothing brand later on.
At the same time, I also had to grow up with a strong sense of responsibility pretty early. That taught me discipline and how to stay focused even when things weren’t easy. Looking back, a lot of who I was growing up directly connects to who I am now and how I built NSWS.
