Meet Isaiah Velez of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Velez.

Hi Isaiah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out recording with a few people early on, just experimenting and finding my sound. But in 2019, after coming back from military training, I really locked in and started recording aggressively. Around that same time, I had my two kids, and their future became my biggest motivation—I wanted them to see in real time that hard work and discipline can actually take you somewhere.

That period was a turning point for me. I sat down and really put thought into my acting. For a period of time, I was cast consistently but once the strike hit it slowed down a lot. During this time I was able to really shape my identity. Not only as an Artist and an Actor, but an Entrepreneur as well. I built my Str33t Wav3 (Street Wave) clothing brand from the ground up, giving my music and everything I do a clear direction and purpose. Since then, I’ve stayed consistent, kept improving my craft, and moved with intention.

Where I am today is a result of that mindset shift. Taking it seriously, building something bigger than me, and staying committed for the long run.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. There was of course maintaining a healthy relationship with my family. Going from Job to Job, trying to maintain a sustainable check. I was also managing myself so it came to a point of learning through experiences in real time. I pivoted a lot over the years. There was a point where I felt like being stuck in a 9-5 was it. I just stayed focused and understood the bigger picture.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I pride myself in being multifaceted in nature. I am a creative. I have blazed my own path even in the face of adversity. My resilience is what is what I am most proud of.
Not only do I do music that ebbs and flows through multiple genres and audiences, I also cultivate fashion experiences that people can wear and live in and get to create moments on and off screen with cast and crew. I create moments that are meant to be felt and experienced but also hope to create trails that others can use to make their own journey.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Everything I do is a risk. Anyone afraid to take a risk gets stuck in a box that society creates for us from birth. It takes courage to do something you have never done but that’s the only way to get something you have never had. I know that the life I want, is my vision and is unlike others so my path may not always make sense but I took a chance on a myself and a few people that share my vision and we are moving through this together.

Sometimes you think too long you think yourself out of opportunities
Sometimes you’re not even ready you just GO!
